Those MagneRide struts are intended to last the life of the car. I've heard of very few failures. Hey, you should be happy that you have the most technologically advanced and cheapest struts on that DTS model. The CVRSS struts of the generation before are around 800-1200 each! :sigh:

$500 is for aftermarket ones from Advanced auto, yes, the factory ones are more, they ended up selling me the mounts as they don't believe the struts are bad either, the dealer said they were but what do they know, they lost their Caddy brand now. I have the mounts, just no time to install them, these are just nosiy when going slow and making turns, otherwise everything is fine, Dave.

Kyle, ya had me lookin' at Caddys this weekend due to my Buick needing so much work. I figured I would put the money toward a newer ride.
Alas, picked up another Buick instead, a 2001 LeSabre Limited. Looks like new money, originally a New Mexico car.
We'll have to see how it turns out after I put some miles on it.

Hey Rick, you could have grabbed an STS and had the damn thing eat a fuel pump. This 03 just ate its pump at the same mileage that my 96 did. Oh well, it's about a half hour job and 240 bucks to replace it myself.

But still, there's lots of nice Sevilles out in your area. I search that NoVa area all the time, just to look at all the nice late model STS available there. My "New" Cadillac

Here's my "New to Me" Caddy

It's a 1994 Deville Concours. 4.6ltr 32V Northstar 275hp FWD with 110K on it.
Runs great and it's fairly clean for the age of it..
There's a few small dings on the trunk and some scratches on the body. Most of them should buff out nicely. The interior is clean. No rips in the tan leather or stains on the carpets. I need to find 2 center caps for the back rims.
I'm getting 22mpg hwy/city combined. Not bad for a car that's almost 4K lbs.
I did a search by the VIN # and found that this car went for $39,860 when new. Holy Crap.
Nice ride and has plenty of room for the family....unlike the little Pontiac Sunfire I had which is now with a new owner.

Nice Concours! I thought the Concours had the 300HP L37, I guess I'm wrong, all '94s had the LD8 Northstar. I had a 96 SLS with the LD8 powertrain, that thing got some sweet highway MPG, with the 3.11 gears and all. My STS with L37/3.71 gears isn't good on gas at all.

Go to cadillacforums.com and read up in the technical archive, lots of stuff you need to know in there. Basics - get the coolant changed NOW, trans fluid exchange to Dexron VI (have GM dealer do it), new plugs/wires, brake and power steering fluid.

Did a little more reading up on it.
It's actually 270hp and 300 lb*ft of torque. LD8 engine (8th digit in vin Y), 4T80-E Tranny.
0-60 in 7.8 sec. Quarter mile, sec/mph 15.8/91.0
Fuel economy,EPA, city/hwy., mpg 16/25
The only options it doesn't have is a CD player, moon roof and chrome rims.

Build date was 12/93 for mine. The late 94 Concours came with the L37 4.6 engine and the Non Concours Deville had a 4.9 L26 engine.

Lucky for me, a full service has already been done on it. All fluids changed, plugs, wires, all filters and a new battery was installed before I got it @ 108K. It came with the paperwork. Even have the original owners manual in a leather case including the calculator. It runs and drives great. The previous owner took great care of it it seems.
I took it to my mechanic who confirmed everything was done. We put it up on the lift and found some oil dripping off the bottom of the oil pan. Turns out the filter was a little loose. It was due for it's 3K oil change anyway so we changed the oil/filter (7.5qts!) then cleaned up the underneath. No oil drips since.
The brakes look new and no marks on the rotors. All tires have 85%+ tread remaining and are wearing evenly.
I'm a happy camper so far.

Wow, that does sound like a nice car! No oil leaks? My 03 STS has a half case leak. That's a really good deal that all the fluids were changed.

I'm sure you know Northstars burn some oil. Run 7 quarts in it, it will just burn off that extra half quart quicker. Low oil doesn't come on until 5 quarts, so just keep an eye on it when you fill up at the gas station. I go by the oil life monitor in mine, change it around 40%. That's around 4500 miles for me, and I drive hard. I have to add about 2 quarts in that time.

I'll post pics of my '59 Coupe deVille when I get it back from the shop for mechanical freshening. -Also black w/ b/w interior. Has factory air and 46,000 miles.

I looked at a 60 CDV a while back, didn't have the scratch though. Love the fins on the early 60s models.

Thanks for your kind words. The 1960 is a very nice year too. Once owned a '60 Series 62 convertible- black, black leather and white roof. My mission is to have the a set of 1959-1962 Coupe deVilles- all of 'em black w/ black and white and that's all I'll ever need. Thanks again. - Eric

Just got the '59 back from the mechanic's for a freshening. Picked it up in March this year. A Virginia car with 46,000 miles w/factory air. One respray back in 1990 but all original otherwise. Enjoy

The STS wheels not only look great but are appropriate for your DeVille Concours. I once had a mint '97 STS in that same "Seamist Green" with the same chrome wheels and it was stunning.

Mmmm, I dig those STS wheels on the Concours. My old SLS had those wheels. They always looked great after a polish and wax.

There's a 97 STS in my area, Crimson Pearl with the 18" DTS Performance wheels on it. It's a beautiful car.
