Bars, restaurants, gyms, retail stores and all other businesses will be able to open without any capacity restrictions Friday at 8 a.m., he said.

@Alobar Good news my friend.

Hopefully no one will choose to tell me to go F%%k myself in this thread like the last one, we all have our opinions about things and I do my best to respect yours even if it is contrary to mine but there is absolutely no need to do this, I chose not to raise a stink about it to the staff here but I will not tolerate it the next time someone chooses to do this I will report you and hopefully you will be banned for life.

I will report back every so often to let people in other areas how it is working here successfully or otherwise, I feel it can be an important tool to use because most places are still on some form of lock down and hopefully if we make mistakes here perhaps other states and areas can learn from this or our successes. For myself there will be no change in my current habits I will continue to wear a mask and wash my hands etc until there is a vaccine and I have gotten vaccinated. I simply cannot afford not to I am through my own poor choices at high risk both age and health wise.

Currently we have 41 active cases.

Well it's everyone's choice whether to go out in the open or stay secluded, so in that sense I don't see much of a downside.

As for me, I'm far from fearing this virus like I was back in March. I've learned quite a bit since then, and what wakes me in the night now is the socioeconomic ramifications of remaining in our foxholes indefinitely. At some tipping point, everything we took for granted will be gone and will not easily return. All for a disease that has taken, not the projected 10's of millions, but just 300 thousand (worldwide), the vast majority with morbidity or multiple morbidities. Half of those were in their 80's.

Had we decided to pour even one half trillion at those most vulnerable, when we knew and saw the problem, we could have saved so many as well as kept from breaking the economy. Now we are going to be giving 10 trillion to corporations who don't need it, just in hopes that they will reinvest in our shattered economy.

As for me, I really miss human contact. I miss stopping by the neighbors house and yak. Or going out for a bite to eat, or having company over. And I really am missing hitting the road too! Canada customs is only 40 miles down the only road we have that connects to the outside world. Will I ever get to use our brand new travel trailer? Will anything be the same again, when in the back of our collective consciousness we will know that at any time they can and will do this shutdown routine again?

As time goes on the fear for most has lessened. As to whether or not the measures that were taken and still are in place most places was the right decision I don't know, how many would have died if we had done less? Who knows? I am happy that I am not the one who had to make those decisions that is the one thing I am sure of.

There are a lot of things that will never be the same again anytime some major event happens change comes with it some for the better others not so much, I know it will be a while before I shake someones hand or give them a hug. Hopefully this reopening goes well and other states and countries follow closely behind and succeed as well.

My area began allowing things like bars and gyms (what's a gym?) and hair sylists to open up yesterday. It's certainly a different routine than before but at least thing are starting to get back to normal, hell I didn't even have to wait in line to get into the liquor store yesterday.

I've been wanting to go get a haircut, and if it were just up to me, I would but since I live with another, she has to feel safe, and thus far she doesn't. I think eventually she will come around on this and see it for what it is, what I consider to be a red herring at this point. You can't wait a virus out, only slow its progress, extending the natural rise, peak and fall of the epidemic. Frankly I'm glad AK has dropped the lockdown. Those who don't feel safe, can and probably should stay put until such time that it becomes obvious the danger has past. For some I suspect that may take years.

Yes there is that, some companies racing (cutting major corners that shorten the time frame from several years to several months) to get a vaccine out by Sept of THIS year. However, I for one wont be lining up at the clinic for that. Reports I have been hearing, all the normal vaccine safety protocols are being tossed aside, the animal trials for one. They have already gone to human testing, and trying to figure out the most effective dosing. The next trial I believe will involve 200 people age 18 to 50 will proceed soon after this one (with 12 people) passes muster. When brought up about how vaccines are less effective in general for older people, that they are not safety testing in my age group (65), the response is that they will simply amp up the dosing. The reason I will be holding back is that I don't wish to be a lab rat, and since they don't have time for those, that is essentially what I would be.

FYI, so far there has not actually been a successful corona virus vaccine. Although it has been tried a few times, the results were all similar, that while an antibody was produced to the satisfaction of the FDA, when the vaccinated (both ferrets and humans) became exposed to the actual virus, the immune systems went into overdrive, in many cases killing the victims.

There have been stories of vaccines being unsafe for as long as I can remember some may be true I don't know. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether or not the possible benefits outweigh the risks, if I was healthy I would not get vaccinated just be as careful as I can and take my chances but since I feel that if I do get this virus I will almost certainly die the benefit outweighs the risk for me personally.

I am far from anti-vaccine but I am with you on this one brother.

Yes, and I would say you are right to do that for yourself. I'm not trying to talk anyone into or out of the shot. People have died in many wars to defend that right of choice. Problem is now, that we may not have a choice, or at least not much of one, should we decide not to have the vaccine. Basically they are planning to inoculate the world. Gates alone is proposing spending billions on vaccine factories around the globe, with the goal of having enough to shoot up 7+ billion. Governments are lining up behind him and the WHO. Will they say, no Dave, its not mandatory, that I can sit this one out, so long as I never leave my property, or will they get a bit more forceful, like the Chinese might do. Come onto my property, and hold me down. If it comes to that, I think I would rather take my "shot" in 9mm form, right in the back of the head. I read 1984 while sitting in a dump truck working on the trans Alaskan pipeline construction in the mid 70's. That book sticks in my mind today, 4 decades later and I have about zero desire to live in that sort of regime. Its like good beer, once you have tasted freedom of choice, you can never go back to the swill they sell the masses! I think in the book it was referred to as "Victory Gin".. Same dif.

I like your post. I don’t dare say anything other than that though.

I got the flu vaccine a few years back because I was over 60. Got the worst flu I ever had shortly after that. Will not do it again. IMHO.

Haven’t been in Yukon for a couple of weeks so I don’t know what the latest is there. If the NWT is anything to go by, it’s still locked down tight.

Anything is possible but to the best of my knowledge the USA has never attempted to force people to take a vaccine. I suppose if it does happen we will cross that bridge when we get there but I am not going to stress out over something that may or may not happen that I have zero control of.

Oh but they have! Children who's parents don't wish to have them exposed to the dangers have a treacherous path to follow. It can even end up with child protection services coming after them.

It sounds like you have little to stress over since you have already said you will take the shot! No one is going to deny you your choice.

I don't have children so was unaware of that. Hopefully they wont attempt to force adults to get vaccinated, as an adult you should have the right to decide what is best for you. I do however have plenty to stress out about in normal every day life every month is a struggle to just survive for me, currently I am stressed about how to pay for transmission repair or replacement on my van, I don't have the money to fix it and I am not sure how I am going to get it in the forseeable future. I simply refuse to worry about things I have absolutely no control of is all, My shoulders are not big enough to take on all the worries of the world real or imagined :)

I do see how with a vaccine that has been fast tracked there is the potential for problems and why many would not want to take it. I will wait till a vaccine becomes available then see if people start dropping like flies I will be right along with you on refusing to take it, if not and it seems to be effective in preventing people from getting it then yes I will get vaccinated. Like playing poker I want to play the best hand I can to stack the odds in my favor. I have never had a flu shot in the past but since this virus is targeting those with heart problems Diabetes and lung problems and I have all three issues my best bet is to get vaccinated if it appears to be safe and effective.

Thanks everyone for restraint in the political front.
