Alaska Reopens Fully Friday

I don't have children so was unaware of that. Hopefully they wont attempt to force adults to get vaccinated, as an adult you should have the right to decide what is best for you.

I suspect, as it has before, will be sold as "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one" to borrow one from Star Trek. Or "it's not for you, it's for everyone else". In worst case scenarios everyone will wear something visible showing (or warning) everyone your vac status. Maybe it will be fine, after all what could go wrong? :bigok:

I do see how with a vaccine that has been fast tracked there is the potential for problems and why many would not want to take it. I will wait till a vaccine becomes available then see if people start dropping like flies I will be right along with you on refusing to take it, if not and it seems to be effective in preventing people from getting it then yes I will get vaccinated.

It will be interesting to see what happens, and what gets reported as to what happened. Much can get swept under the rug by the media when it is owned by the same owners producing the vaccine.

BTW, they do have a special law dating back to the 80's that disallows a pharmaceutical company to be sued for harm caused by a vaccine. They have blanket immunity in the court of law!

That is certainly a valid concern news being slanted in a way that benefits the ones reporting it. The good thing is that with the internet and given enough research we have a fair chance of seeing all sides of the story.

You may have to hunt for it however. Censorship is alive and well on the internet here in the USA, and not just China .

Or this from YouTube. They actively take down videos that say, promote the use of vitamin C for CV19 because it hasn't been "proven". Well that's their opinion. Point is that they censor info that runs counter to the official mandate. This should be disturbing to anyone who believes in free speech.

Yeah, on the internet, everybody's opinion is equal. No matter how much or little that opinion is based upon fact.

Alaska was closed? ;-)

I thought you guys can skin game with your teeth and live a week off of damp rocks....cv19 would merely be a drink mixer for yinz.

If so what wuss job closed you down?

41 cases? we have that in the first floor of any retirement home here....

The thing with “censoring” the interweb is that the sites are private ventures and though I do not think they should, they can control whatever is on their sites, kind of like here.

I just read stuff and use some critical thinking, normally the truth is somewhere in the middle.

:beerchug:

South Dakota is way ahead of them. They never did any sort of lockdown. MY grandaughter lives there and, other than people dropping like flies,it's business as usual. ;)

Just kidding about the people dropping like flies. :D

I just hope we learn lessons from this outbreak and hope the opening up goes well. What is normal? Seem like it's an evolving thing. In lieu of handshakes I propose

Sorry Star Wars fans you just don't have anything as cool

It's hard to social distance and still perform an effective Vulcan mind pinch.

I agree with that first part anyhow. Its their party and they can do what they wish. I was only responding to Snow when he said that both sides can easily be found on the web. When Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and most others pull content that doesn't comply with the WHO or CDC then we in the west are really no different than China, who Google, Facebook etc are always in trouble with.

Well about 10 times that, if you can have confidence in the tests themselves, but out of 750,000 population, that comes down to about 0.00000533% of us caught it, (Not included were all those who had it and were not tested due to being asymptomatic) and 9 died, again mostly with high age, and morbidities.

Yeah, I wasn’t disagreeing :D

As for not fearing the virus... a local guy who's friends with a bunch of my friends died from it about a month ago. According to his partner, he also did not fear it... initially. As he quickly sickened, he certainly did.
I'm all for people doing what they want to do in a vacuum. That is, if what you want to do does not affect others, have at it. Want to thumb your nose at a known infectious disease and get sick; that's on you. That freedom stops, to me, when one is causing others to become sick. Being a Typhoid Mary (Corona Connie?) and infecting others is not cool.

Opinion
o·pin·ion
/əˈpinyən/
noun
noun: opinion; plural noun: opinions
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

In many ways, it seems that somehow a personal opinion carries as much weight as research based fact. I'm reminded of the world being flat, spontaneous generation, etc

OK, sure, we stop the economy, shut down, bunker in and hide for however long it takes until we are 100% positive without a shadow of a doubt that the virus will no longer harm any of us. After all one cannot be too sure with this mysterious virus. Then we crawl out, look at the world we created, count up the dead from suicide, murder, beatings, starvation, make a footnote of all the foreclosures, bankruptcies, divorces, and say, 'well I guess that was worth it'. :dunno:

It's funny you you jump to that conclusion based on what I said. I never said we should stop the economy, hide, etc. We're the laughingstock of the world, in relation to how we've handled this. I'll let you state your opinion as to why.

I'll get in trouble doing that. I am curious if your friend who died of CV19 was placed on a ventilator at some point. If so, there is about an 80-90% death rate from those alone, and doctors are coming out in front of that with better alternatives. Whether they will get shot down or censored is another matter entirely.

Our retail stores opened up today so I went to Goodwill and it was very crowded. I bought a sound bar that didn't have a power supply but I knew that I had several at home. I didn't think to look at the voltage. It takes a 24 volt transformer and I don't think I have one of those. Drat!

I also went to Menards to buy a Drill Doctor 500X and that place had a lot of traffic too.
