Allied 498 watts?

Does anyone know the output wattage of a Allied 498?

Its Pioneer internals similar to sx2500?

I had a Allied 395 at one time. 50 wpc. Almost exactly like a Pioneer SX-1000TW. Wish I would've kept it...

I have a 495, same amp bits as the SX-1500td. 58 watts into 8 ohms.

Only way to know for sure is to measure it if you don't believe the specs. It doesn't take as much power to make a lot of noise as you might think.

Don't forget you're in the wild and wooly pre-FTC '74 world. Here are the specificatons for the SX-2500 from that link's manual:


Now, in FTC '74 terms of "RMS" (i.e., continuous) watts per channel from 20 to 20k? Well, less than 72. Maybe 60 to 65 for 0.5% THD(???) -- a SWAG.

The receiver appears in the 1971 "Version 3" Allied Radio Shack catalog, listed as 85 watts @4 ohms. It was
only sold for a short time, probably using up Allied's stock, for it was gone by the next year.
