does anyone know what woofer was used in this model and are they "out there". Someone has a pair but they have Peavy woofs. Thanks . I looked but could not find.
There are a lot of threads here on that exact question. I'm on my phone or I'd search for a few. I don't recall the model number, but the bottom line is that they often are missing on Model 14s, and they are quite difficult to find, but Great Plains Audio has a similar woofer you might try.
A standard frame size woofer does not fit a model 14 opening.
034633 is the correct part number, but that's not going to be much help. The only other speaker that woofer was used in were 9842 monitors, and they are far less common than model 14's.
Unless they have the price down to about the value of the horns and drivers, i wouldn't bother with a second look.
A 3124 "might" be made to work in a 14. But, we're back to the fitment issue as it's going to be too small in diameter to fill and properly fit the baffle recess.
Additionally, it would require hacking up the factory baffle further in order to fit a port tube and get it properly tuned.
Model 14's with hacked baffles and missing their woofers are just parts in my world.
I suppose another answer would be to repurpose the cabinets for entirely new drivers and crossovers. Seems a shame, but better than just throwing them away, and potentially better than the originals.
I would still get them for the compression drivers and the horns. The 35480 diaphragms are awesome(which were in all stock 14 902-8b's I believe. Better for power handling and lower crossover points far as I understand compared to the lite which were the 35447 or something diaphragm used in other standard 802/902b's)...
Sucks though cause the 14 woofers are amazing 12" bass drivers with exceptional punch and extension...if can still get them cheap. I would.
Those are my Model 14s the OP is referring to. I have written about them a few times here vis a vis the crazy short-lived woofer production.
It is a very frustrating situation, and I decided to just sell them pretty much as is. They are actually in pretty good shape.
Ill not say more, as I don't want this post to sound like an ad.
