Altec 887a speakers

A guy I know has a set of Altec 887a speakers. I don't know if they're good (condition wise) or not. E-mail pics are really bad. Are these worth picking up, or passing them by?

Depends on the price. Don't expect them to be a pair of A7s in little boxes... but they're not bad.

Thanks mhardy. So if they're in good shape, $40.00 fair? This will (maybe) be my first pair of Altec's. How do they sound? Are they warm or bright? This is new territory for me. Never had a set of Altec's.

Maybe someone out there has these, and can tell me what their running on, and how they sound.

The pair I own sound great:thmbsp: They will surprise you for sure:thmbsp: I had them paired with a Pioneer SX 850 and man..Nice: Not bright at all, Very accurate with a mellow kind of tone.music: The price is reasonable and they don't come around often Take a look at the vintageknob review for more info:scratch2:

Here's my previous bedroom setup with the Altec 887 Capri's:yes: Hope you can get an idea of what they look like:thmbsp:The
guy I bought them from had a "Third wheel" Due to the fact his purchase was from a guy that had two sets but couldn't find the 4th
speaker!! The wood on these are great with removal grills.There's a mess cover over the tweets. I picked up 3 for the price of 2..

I used to have a pair of these and they are fantastic little speakers! I wouldn't think twice about grabbing a set for anywhere under $75. I really regret selling mine.

Even if they need a refoam, they sound (a little pun there) like a good deal.
