Altec Horn Single Cell dimensions/patterns

I am thinking I may want to look into the 808. I will likely 3D print the collector and adapter for the driver. Modeling both is simple enough. Finding time is the difficult part.

I like where you are going with this. I would pay good money for a modern knockoff of this classic design. With modern CNC technology a person could make an affordable alternative to antique horns, and then mass produce it for everyone to enjoy. I have an old JBL H1000 horn, and I'd love to try something like this to make a replica

Made a quick prototype out of cardboard and tape. It occured to me that this wouldnt be difficult to cover with fiberglass.

Looks good. Are those perfectly square at the mouth, or are they 1" wider on one edge? That's one part of the horn-making article posted above that confused me. Where does the extra one inch come into play? Or am I completely misunderstanding the instructions in the article?

It is completely square. I undersrand what the article is saying about making one side wider. For the sake of simplicity of parts I am choosing not to do that. I sent the model of the single side pattern to the laser shop this morning. I will get 4 pieces cut and prototype one cell in metal before having the total quantity cut.

In my haste to make these horns I never thought to look into how much a set of drivers would cost. Damn things arent cheap. This revelation brings me to two questions. First, any recommendations on after market/new drivers? Second, any chance a 1" compression driver will work?
