Thus little integrated amp from mid eighties us blowing my mind. My Infinity Qb speakers never sound so good before. The low bass articulation and depth blows away the Realistic STA 2000D I have. Such smooth sound. Of course the amp has all new electrolytic caps and is almost running like new. I only wish it had led power meters....

Not surprised. Those HK's from the mid 80's are great! High current design really helps in the bass and dynamics.

Yep, a few of us have been trying to get these out from under the radar for awhile. Put a shiny silver face on this series, and it might be one of the most sought after vintage lineups out there. PM-665vxi here.

I always liked HK. One of my systems includes a silver TU-915 tuner with a HK integrated amp (avi 200 ii) from 1996. Both are very good, but I am always on the lookout for a silver pm655 to make that perfect match.

Yup! Had a 655vxi and it did many things very, very well. Ran a little hot, but it was pushing Dynaudio 4Ω at 82db efficiency... :)

I have a 655 vxi, not sure what the vxi suffix means....maybe cause it is black faced??? Anyway, it is always attached to something in my system. Love the sound and power of the amp!

I still own, I think, a pm 665, which ended up in the hands of a friend I'm no longer in contact with. I also have the top of that line, the hk 825 pre-amp and hk 870 amp. Very sweet pieces. Still have the original brochure for them too.

Very eXcellent Integrated. :D

Clever! Love it...As of late, I buy and sell a lot of gear while upgrading my collection. The HK amp was an early purchase, and is going nowhere soon! It holds it's own against everything....and currently sits as part of my main system. The only complaint I have is that I have to tear it down once in awhile to give those many micro-switches a quick shot of De-Oxit, but it is a labor of love really....

thanks sam. it's good to have a little info on the two hk730 i'm currently running. (bought the first on back in the 70's.) love em--Wally

greetings to all! my first post and first questions regarding 655vxi:)
I just bougt it in quite good condition for powering my ortodynamic eadpones ifiman e5le.
I found it very interesting sounding. I also read tat power amp is veeery good but pre is very soso. Generally I was looking for some old vintage Sansui and Pioneer amplituners like 7070/8080/9090 or SX939 1010 etc. now aving PM655VXI I just dont know wat to expect from it? I found tread someone preffered 655/665 to pioneer sx1050?
Can anyone tell me wat to expect from old respected Sansui/Pioneer amplituners vs 655vxi integrated and oter preamp? Tank you.

P.S. Sorry for grammatic, my keyboard needs service :D
