Nice work! Still wondering how a guy with mad skillz like that could toss an amp like that in the first place. Perhaps alcohol was involved.

Oh it's been on. I ran it for a while at 100v on the variac but now I'm running it a line voltage, voltages are a little high as usual with old ptx's but it sounds nice like all these little amps do. I might mess with the feedback resistor and the coupling cap, currently I'm using a .01u between stages and a 6800R NFB resistor. I'm thinking about going to a .47u for the interstage, I have some .1u's but I think that may be too big.

Anyone ever use a dual gang pot to adjust feedback circut? Seems like that would be nice depending on your source or type of music.
 
I was given an AMI Continental II stereo power amp about a year ago that had been in a flood. It was rusty and nasty, but I was able to get it going again. The power transformer had an "electrostatic ground shield" that had shorted to the HV winding. I simply disconnected the EGS lead from the chassis, and the transformer worked fine. But, after using it for a year, the primary of the transformer recently shorted to the transformer case. I'm still using it, but I have to plug the amp into an isolation transformer. I wonder if the short was a delayed effect of the flood? :scratch2: Fortunately, the output transformers are fine.

Great sounding amp, BTW.
