Another Bose 901 restoration thread

Yes clearly an FM station. I can make out the songs actually it is coming through so well. When you say shielded interconnects, what exactly do you mean? Sorry to Hijack your thread.

Started on the stands today. I attacked them with a wire brush on an angle grinder, and then gave them a couple of coats of etching primer. Hopefully we'll have nice weather over the weekend, and I can paint them with textured black paint.

Wow, awesome job on those 901's! It seems like a long process but the outcome looks great. 901's definitely sound muddy and terrible without the matching series EQ. I often see post from people complaining about the sound, and it's usually because they don't have the EQ, which as you said, acts like a X-over for the speakers. I'm glad you gave them a proper go.

Your rebuild definitely made me realize what my 901's could look like if I put some time into them. Thanks for posting!

Bose 901s

I was blown away by the sound. I sat and listened to the whole album, something I rarely get the time to do on my one day off, so these speakers must have been doing something right.Lee.

Before you sell 'em, listen to some "live" recordings on 'em. That's what 901s
sound best at reproducing.

Before you sell them listen to them with all the grills OFF and put some self-adhesive foam insulation around the front speaker driver.

You might just keep them after listening to them like this  :music:

I just love new Bose series 6 mk 2's tweaked out like this. :thmbsp: :smoke:

My 901 serie VI restauration

i have now 4 bose 901 i use to have 6 but my father came one day to my home and ask me if i could give him 2 i had 2 series IV two series V and two series VI

The two serie IV were his back in the 70's the two series V were given to me by a friend that didnt have space at his house and gave them to me and those last serie IV were given to me by a friend that had them on the patio and he was not using them, as you can see the wood was pretty bad shape so i did them a little favor and paint them.
