out of curiousity i did some googling on religion in nigeria,

if our scammer is indeed nigerian, you have only a 50.4% chance of him being of islam, theres a near equal chance he is christian.

according to wikipedia anyway, which as we are all aware, if its printed on the internet, its true.

I have to say that if I lived in the conditions that "John Paul" lives in (assumed abject poverty and little education or opportunity) and I had access to the internet I'd probably try the same thing.

You have to realize that outside the US we're thought of as unbelievably rich and rather stupid. This fact is born out by our foreign policy and the conduct of many Americans abroad.

I'm just saying.

In the interest of good sportsmanship I believe that a little long distance toying with is definitely the order of the day.

It doesn't really matter where the person was born and how he was raised. What matters is it a honest man who makes his living by working hard or.....this guy is just a perfect example of an opposite. I'm typing my reply to him as we speak and will post it soon. Have to stall him a bit more.

Well, I for one, did grow up in poverty, with little educational opportunities available. However, not for one second would I consider deceiving someone out of their money or property. :nono:
Perhaps the scammer should use his internet connection for a more noble purpose.
I am tired of hearing, "individuals commit crimes because of poverty."

There's almost always a few giveaways in these: the urgent need to buy NOW...never any indication of what it is that they want to buy NOW...the superfluous mention of wanting "to give as a gift to a son 'schooling' out of state" (or graduating college/getting married/whatever)...and, of course...convoluted shipping & payment arrangements. The majority of us see though this crap nearly instantly...it's the .01% out there that makes these profitable.
