Any Connecticut People Haunt The Forums?

Would be nice to meet up with other CT folks. I know it's tough with Covid, but would be nice to talk audio, stores, etc.

Chime in if you're in the 203 or 860. Cheers!

Hi JPNH. If you're near nyc, then i'm about as far away as possible....you're in the lower left ? I'm in the upper right.

Stay safe.
Cheers.

Prepandemic we’ve held the FrankenFest twice a year in central Massachusetts - we typically get 50-100 attendees from New England and NY with one gent flying in from Oregon.
At this point I’m thinking the next one will be next October in West Boylston, MA.

I thought you asked if there were any "connected" people haunting the forums...

I guess I need another cup of coffee.

Buona giornata, and stay safe!

Yeah, been lurking here for a number of years, I'm in central CT-Middletown area. BillyTheKid, I'm up you're way quite often, My Dad lives up in Killingly.

Hi Brian,
I was just in Killingly yesterday...I had to return an item to Lowes. I bought a tall water heater, and the only pan they had to go underneath it was still too small. Of course, i didn't know it was too small until we tried to lift it into the pan....

Hi from central Connecticut. Getting ready to rock with the snowblower on Thursday! There is the Connecticut Audio Society. I don't know any members, but they seem to have regular meetings with audio specific presentations, which these days are Zoom meetings. There are also links to some interesting websites. Is anyone familiar with this club?

Hello from a new Farmington member! I came here to AK to find help repairing my 1980s Kenwood turntable and ended up buying a vintage Revox B795 turntable at the Stereo Shop in Hartford. I don't have a record shop that I'm loyal to, so my brother and I will take day trips and will hit shops that are strategically located near breweries.

Places we like; Gerosa Records (Brookfield), Mystic Disc, The Telegraph (New London), Revolution Records (Torrington). Our next trip is slated for Northampton, MA once COVID releases its grip.

Don't know if you're still active but I'm from Putnam and still live in that area. I go to Danielson and Killingly all the time. I used to go to Olivers music store back iin the day. Hope your stll active maybe we can gettogether for a coffee at Dunkin Donuts or something.

Hey AreBee,
I recommend Redscroll Records in Wallingford, I think you’ll like it. And I’m sure there’s a brewery near by, there everywhere today!

I'm a new member in Middle Haddam (near Middletown). I am also new to Connecticut, and I'm trying to find good places for gear and service. I have found a couple so far:
Merle's Record Rack in Orange (between New Haven and Bridgeport). Mike is great there, in my experience, and they have tons of albums, CDs, and Equipment. They also service equipment. Their prices are fair for the market IMO. They beat online prices by a mile and they have zero junk and stand behind their stuff.

Antiques on the Farmington in Colinsville is an antique mall, but there is a booth upstairs with some equipment and a few albums, tapes, etc. There's not much, but it is worth it if you're in the area. I haven't met the guy but have dealt second hand. He seems reasonable and his stuff is not junk.

I did find one place in eastern CT that is completely off the radar as far as I can tell. I have only been once, but I was very impressed. I'm reserving a recommendation until I have a little more experience with them.

I haven't had any luck in Hartford area so far. The places that I have seen are either repair only, and I have not used them yet, or they are not my taste. I'll leave that there.

I also have trouble passing Goodwill, Savers, etc. for albums or equipment, because you never know.

Welcome aboard the AK train.
Keep an eye out for our next FrankenFest, hopefully in October.

Not sure if I haunt, troll or lurk on AK, but been around for about five years. Started by looking for information on replacing the surrounds on my NLAs. Quickly fell down the rabbit hole. Now have at least six more pairs of speakers( I don't bother counting, thin the herd when wife gets too annoyed, usually in response to something new coming in.) Also two more power amps, a pre-amp, a 1970s Sansui receiver and an integrated amp.

Hey guys! I’m down in the Old Saybrook area.
Do any of you know of a guy that can fully service my Sansui 2000X receiver?

Thank you

Look back at posts #7 and #15.
Merle's Record Rack may be an option(#15). You may get a lead from the Connecticut Audio Society(#7) or maybe the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum of CT
can point you in the right direction.
There is also someone who occasionally post repair services on Craig's List, no affiliation.
No experience with this one other than he turned down a request to put new amplifier boards in a notoriously problem receiver.

And there's always Google.
