Any "covers" ever better than the originals?

Ah.. now see, I cant' agree with Johnny doing Hurt... A fantastic version, but I don't think anyone will ever out do Trent on it.

Oh, also Metallica can never out do anyone... Especially Lizzy... Sorry.. Metallica just isn't as great as they would like to think they are..

We all got our preferences.. ;)

In quite a few cases, Hank Williams performed other artist's songs on his radio programs. In particular, the 1960 overdubbed version of "Sundown and Sorrow" is better than the original Cowboy Copas version.

"Pure Love" by Ronnie Milsap was actually a cover version of the Eddie Rabbit version and is a better version.

Wasp did a version too. That's the one I like.

Are you talking about "I Don't Need No Doctor" as originally done by Ray Charles, and beautifully covered by WASP?

I do love that song with Blackie Lawless singing it. Humble Pie does a great version as well.

Monty Montgomery's version of "Little Wing" is phenomenal; it is instrumental (acoustic guitar) and in my opinion exceedingly better.
George Michael's version of "Let Her Down Easy" (Terrence Trent Darby) is beautiful.
Joe Lynn Turner's version of "Diary of a Madman" rocks! (Randy Rhoads Tribute released in Japan) his version of "Mr. Crowley" is awsome too.
T&N's versions of Dokken's "Alone Again" (Sebastian Bach, vocal) and "Into the Fire" (Jeff Pilson, vocal) are nice improvements. Of course Pilson and Lynch redid these, but better without Dokken.
So many covers I prefer to the original artist...however, the original is usually pretty good too.:music:

Amy Winehouse on Wanda Jackson's You Know I'm no Good... And how bout Jan & Dean do Buddy Clark's Linda..Lil Lil Lil Lil Lil Lil Lil Lil Lil Linda!

It may be sacrilege cause I like both songs for different era's But the Weavers Wimoweh updated by the Tokens is really fun,

Didn't know this thread existed.

Neil Young's "After The Goldrush" by Prelude is way more musical than his version, IMO.
