Any Lafayette Collectors? Raise Your Hands!!

LR-9090. Nice, powerful receiver. Outside of the on/off speaker selector switch they seem to last forever. Or at least to modern times.
I had three Lafayette receivers from their last series. I bought an LR-2020 new in 1976, an LR-9090 new in 1977 (wish I would have kept it) and an LR-120DB I bought around 2014.
I seem to get stuck on buying brands and models/series I like. I've had 4 different pairs of RS series Infinity speakers.
Thanks...I will look again. Would be nice to get her fixed up. Cute lil bugger...
I have just one currently. A 1970 model. Quickly became my favorite set. Simplicity, build quality and pretty good performance. I'll likely be hoarding a few more sets.:)

Picked up a 3030A for $25 recently, seller described left channel out needs work. I bought it to use the B speaker terminals for my 9090.

But other than the A speaker terminals all being broken (looked like someone yanked the speaker wires clean out of it?) the DC offset measured
left channel -23mv , right channel -25mv (was dirty switches and pots) and all the lights still worked to boot.

Replaced the speaker terminals and its cleaning up real nicely , when I got it still had a service invoice , claim ticket taped to the top.

IMG_20220406_083756338.jpgIntact q.c. sticker reads Aug, 10th, 1970. My grandmothers birthday. A day after my moms birthday. A day before my 6th birthday. Just off the bench getting LEDs and the new stereo beacon. Running Amazon Unlimited HD with a 10 ft cord from my phone. 1990 Bose se-5 series 1. Just a heads up to everyone else in this thread. Shhh! Don't tell anyone how good little old Lafayettes are.:beerchug:

Got this one (along with a bunch of other stuff) from a warehouse cleanout in downtown Cleveland , LR 200.
Was in a pile on the first floor , I figure it was on the second floor when it caved in.

Looks like it had a real rough storage life , after letting it dry out real good other than all the lights being burnt out it works a treat , even without cleaning any of the pots and switches (or any cleaning for that matter).

Tuff little receiver it is , using it for shop tunes at the moment hooked up to a set of old Sanyo 2 ways out in the warehouse , nice sounding match-up.

WOW! Looks like it was pulled up from the Titanic. Not surprised it still works.

Some of my earliest pieces are from Lafayette. My first NEW piece of audio gear was/is a Lafayette LA-25 solid state integrated amp that my folks bought me in the late 60s IIRC. I paired it with my dad's old Lafayette LT-425t solid state tuner. Both shown in picture below. Yes I still own them and they still work.

I also have acquired various Lafayette items. Some SK-58 coaxial speakers ..... two of the bunch are in Lafayette Elliptoflex cabinets. I also have some Lafayette tube gear. A Kt-600 tube preamp and La-310 6BQ5/7189 power amp, and a couple of tuners.

Wow! That unit looks like the one from the old Marantz "survived a fire" ad.

Thanks- do I need to remove the face plate to see them?[

If you Google" replacing bulbs in Lafayette lr-200" a you tube video should come up. It discusses replacing the stereo beacon with an led. But also shows where the other bulbs are. Shouldn't be much more than removing the cover. I don't think the faceplate needs to come off.

It is the prettiest receiver I own. Yes, it is a Lafayette.
Unfortunately, I have the "No Clutter" rule i.e. no more than one system/set of speakers per room, which works against it, because it does not have the ability to resolve detail as well as my HK730.
Having said that, I would highly encourage anyone who doesn't need more than 75W/channel to give it a listen.

Wouldn't say I'm a collector, but I do have these cool old headphones that I received for Christmas in 1978. They're down in the basement. This is a pic I grabbed from the internet.

Probably one of the best and longest lasting stereo headphones that Lafayette sold was the Lafayette F-990. Mine still work great after roughly 50 years. Following slightly behind, but still great Lafayette headphones is the Lafayette F-767. Bought these roughly around 1965 and still use them today with my short wave and amateur radio equipment.
