Any Reel guys interested in a tape swap?

I will admit back in the day when we used full track tape macines we would re-use tape from time to time at the recording studio of the Radio station. . But when you are using 1/4 inch tape with 1/4 trk heads thats an iffy proposition unless you have an outstanding machine with a great tape path and never FF or fast rewind the tape. Its like asking a racecar owner if he wants to swap tires after both of you a run in the same race. The tires are gone and the last thing you want is to run on some one else's spent tires or tape.
 
Okay, so this took a dive into the pool with a flotation rock but let's get this revived. I am ready to revive this project if we can get some players in the game! There were complaints about Media mail a few years ago, but lately I have seen a drastic improvement in media mail deliveries (at least in my town of Cincinnati) where delivery times often beat the estimated time by USPS. Open reel tape 1/4", 2 track, 1800' 7" tapes preferred. Does not have to be new tapes! Let's get this going guys! It was so enjoyable to be a part of this years ago.

I had two of these. They’re lovely machines to watch in action. About the only thing I didn’t like about them was that you couldn’t go directly from pause/play to pause/record without dropping the transport, which produced an audible transient on the tape. I dealt with that by manually moving the tape about 1/2” after dropping it before engaging pause/record. Problem solved. That’s a nice machine you have.
 
I think I was in every one of the original swaps, so can I suggest something that might spark more interest?

In the old rotations we could record anything we wanted, so most all of them ended up as mix tapes. Which was fine, but there was very little of anything I hadn't heard or didn't already have (which I think was the same for most everyone in the rounds).

It might be more interesting if the tapes were full album recordings of rarities, high priced/vauled LP's, and/or or super-audio pressings. Special stuff.

Just a thought.

Hi Mike it's been awhile I was wondering how many people would want to do this again. The last rotation I never received my tape back. So I'm not mailing one of my NOS sealed 7" BASF 35 reels I recorded from MFSL pressings.

That sucks! Any idea who last had your tape! I hate to see that happen and take the enjoyment out of this hobby.

I don't remember now it's been too long ago. jcmusic suggested one on one, I've known you for years let me know if want to do this again. I still have the same cell number Mike let me know if you have time.
 
I’ve not done one of those, as I’ve only recently gotten my deck (and me) ready to roll.
I would be interested. I’ve been here a long time, though not a prolific poster, and universal good feedback on other sites.
I have 51 used tapes and 25 nos/sealed, so don’t need to keep anyone else’s
LMK if a few folks want to start one.
 
I would be interested in starting one. I have a huge stash of tape to use.
I’m curious what format would be used? 2 or 4 track?
 
1/4 track stereo would be my guess as most "home" or HiFi decks are of this format. I'd be interested in swapping tapes/tunes but have no idea what others are looking for and I have nothing really "unique" in my collection as most came from the radio station I was a student at during the 1980's.
