Anybody listen to Graz'd EMIM's?

I've been away from home, playing on bikes up in Tahoe.

Was feeling stereo withdrawl after missing the big system for one week. Now, I have King Crimson "Three Of A Perfect Pair" playing after amp warm up with The Clash "London Calling."

I hear detail, accuracy, and smoothness that makes listening exciting and very interesting. I can pick out guitar strings, drum skin hits, and life like voice. It's awesome!

I baugt one pair of Graz'd Emim panels for my RS2B. Fast delivery, very good packing og the realy look profesional bulit. And they are realy easy to change, very good fit. So no my RS2B realy sound good, with al the air and detail you want !
But since one Emim vas broken when i baugt them i don have reference sound to compare with. I put my first pair in the middle where the upper mid tone is.
And i absolutely gona change my 2 other Emims with the Graz'd Emims.

My RS2B realy sound good with the Plinius Hiato integrated amp whit 2x300w.

Also very good news that the word is spreading far and wide about the Graz EMIMs. The more people buy them, the more chance we have of EMITs, L-EMIMs, etc being made. Make sure you tell your other Infinity friends about them!

No, I haven't heard any Apogees yet. I've heard Martin Logans and Magnepans, and I prefer the Graz-ed Infinities to those.

Hi guys!

I have also made the (obvious) decision and bought and installed 14 Graz EMIM's for my RS1b.

The result is extremely good in all areas and finally blends splendidly with the bass towers.

I have no way of comparing to a perfect original specimen as all mine was fully functional BUT looking much like the ones sold on ebay.
That is wavy! If they are they are hitting the magnets for sure and makes the sound distorted.
This is something ALL of You with original EMIM's should be aware of.
I've made a little video of this when I took apart them.
One thing more... and this is a sad one.
The QC (Quality Control" must have been somewhat bad as the metal grid that the magnets are glued on is twisted from the profile punching.
I have taken pictures of this too.
This makes things a bit sad.
The solution would be to insert thin distances between the new EMIM ribbons and the magnet face plates.

I will ask Graz if he is willing to make something like that.

But other then that, his ribbons are 1'st class and the result is stunning!

As a side note, I find it hard to understand all the flack that the bass towers get from some users.
I use the original servo unit and have changed some OP-amps and all the electrolytes.
I also power these towers with lots of power.
At least I have snappy fast bass that actually ARE really articulate.

I agree with your comment on the bass from the RS-1b's woofer columns. I also never find that I want more bass than what it gives. One possible explanation about some people not liking the bass is that the active crossover may need recapping or op-amp replaced. I have 5 of the crossover units and 2 of them give good bass but the other of 3 give skimpy bass. If I recall, I think it was Ken Boyd who also suggested to replace the op-amps in the active crossover.

I hope Graz keeps making new batches of the emim diaphragms. I only purchased 4 due to the cost but I am saving so that I can replace the rest.

I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you guys are speaking to different points.

"Snappy, fast, articulate" (quality) and "more bass" (quantity) are two different value statements.

I am curious, what are you guys comparing them to? Live music? Other speakers? If so, which ones?

Well ... I hope you don't mind me saying so, but for a newbie like me, "more" bass can mean both quality and quantity. If that is the technicality that you are bothered with, then by all means my shortcoming.

I made a reference to the RS-1b's bass due to the fact that I got very different bass (quality and quantity) using different active crossovers that I have. The serial numbers are not really that far apart and thus I suspected some components must have gone bad and can be the contributor to what others had mentioned before about the lack of bass in the RS-1b's.

My experience with other speakers is not much by any standard and audio taste is very subjective. My taste, my amps, my preamp, my source, my room, and my kind of music will influence what is "better" or "worse" for me, so I should refrain from getting into discussion comparing different speakers, especially with experts. I have never been to a Live music, so sorry cannot give any comment on that too.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a jerk. My bad. You are right about me, though...I do get bothered by technicalities. I admit, a lot of my perception of speakers, before even hearing them, is governed by technicalities and what they should/shouldn't/can/cannot do. So it's usually a good idea for me to just keep out of conversations.

As you know, from our many conversations, I'd love to have a pair of -1b's. But, of course, I couldn't leave them stock; the bass system is a big reason why. And I still hope we can approach this in the future.

Edit: And when you come to Seattle, we'll go to some live music. It's helpful to 'calibrate' the ears every once in a while with live music to aid in judging the accuracy of speakers.
