PF-1000 = PF-800 with a copper sub-platter/rotor (instead of zinc for the 800 IIRC), the rest is supposedly 100% the same.

I've never heard either of them but the 1000 is so much more good-looking in silver livery than the regular all-black 800/1000 versions!
YB-2, haven't you a PF-800?

Having owned 2 PF-800's and currently have a PF-1000. There is more differences than the inner platter, which is bronze and not copper. The power cord is larger on the 1000, the audio cables are higher quality on the 1000 also. On the 800 it has the typical plastic booted rca's and thin cables, the 1000 has large cables and gold sleeved RCA's

As far a specs go the 1000 has slightly better wow and flutter measurements. They sound about the same, the 1000 slightly better, a little smoother.

The one in the auction is missing a dust cap, dust cover and strobe clamp. All these are interchangable with a PF-800.

right'o - I felt copper wasn't right in my memory - thanks Punker for straightening this out!

Yes, do have the PF-800. But new wires from cartridge to preamp are better than anything Yamaha thought of (on either model), so that is not a problem. Very similar, other than the differences that Mike points out.
