Stylus choice for Yamaha PF-1000?

I have a choice of Technics EPC-310C and an Ortofon Rondo Blue. Which is likely to give better performance with a Yamaha PF-1000 (similar to PF-800) turntable?

I can´t find anything about the Technics, but judging from the model#, I think it´s a P-mount cartridge, which won't fit the Yamaha.

I could be wrong though.

I made a mistake with the Technics model number. It is EPS-310MC, alternatively called EPC-310MC, I believe. I do have an adaptor that allows the T4P cart to be fitted to a 1/2-inch mounting.

Well, I tried them both, and the Technics cart really sounds good. It sounds much better than the Ortofon, which seems a bit heavy for the arm.

Does anybody know what the weight of the tonearm is?

Would it work together with a Denon DL103?

The PF-1000 is supposed to handle carts between 2 and 11g, so the 8,5g of the DL103 is close to middle of the road.

Ok. But how about the compliance. Thats what i´m really worried about. The DL103 got a very low compliance especially in the specifications (its measured at an unsual frequency.

If the Technics is in good shape it should run circles around the Ortofon. It's a HOMC so it should work fine with a MM phonostage. You can register (free) at vinylengine and read more on it...

The PF-1000 came org. with the Yamaha MC-705 witch has 6 x 10-6 cm/Dyne and 4.3g, so if you compair this to the 5 x 10-6 cm/Dyne and 8,5g of the DL103. You will get close to the same result acording to vinylengine.com, I will say the DL103 wil do real fine on the PF-1000.

Also see the note on vinylengine: Denon publishes their dynamic compliance specifications relative to 100Hz . The actual compliance at 10Hz will be higher
