Yamaha PF-800/1000 clamp questions

Folks, what is the clamp like on the Yamaha PF-800 or 1000? Is it a lightweight screwdown, or something more substantial? As I don't have one, what is the best replacement for it in the aftermarket?

It's pretty useless. It's lightweight with no clamp down function.

What would be really good is the Michell Clamp it works very good and is light weight. It also come with the felt washer to clamp dished record down flat.

Yes it does, They are rare, most PF-800's I see for sale don't have them. I like it because it's an original part of the turntable.

Thats what I was thinking of too. GMTA, and all that.

I'm shocked that you didn't recommend a more expensive clamp.

Yeah, they sure aren't much to look at, but they do work very nicely. Very elegant design and execution.

Well then get a SOTA Reflex Clamp, I think it's a better clamp but I read Erik's specifics, light, screw down.

Oh almost forgot as SOTA has the (I Clamp)

But then when you have a Gyro SE who's looking at the clamp anyway..

I used a KAB clamp on my PF-1000.

Worked great. Loved the table but sold it reluctantly. Kept the clamp.

I used a GAS Sleeping Beauty which was a nice match and a Megasonics MC-10 which was sublime.

I saw that when looking for the SOTA clamps. Looks better and only $38
