Apogee Centaur

Very informative website indeed, I hooked up my nakamichi to my dual turntable and used it as a preamp since its a integrated receiver but always liked how the phone stage sounded perhaps it boosted the signal more than my other gear and I kind of have alot embarrassingly enough. Decided to use a audio source amp that I got from a trade not really knowing anything about audio source. I believe its 80 wpc and uses a toroidal transformer with big caps etc. Also its pretty heavy. Shockingly enough it drove the minors well, not gr8 at higher volume but all around good sound stage which is what I'm after that and dynamics mostly so I guess I'm not a traditional audiophile who is after flat and or should I say neutral? Which I totally get and understand. I just can't help myself adjusting the treble or bass controls and I have to admit I like equalizers and have/use them often in my chain. Really curious if I hook up other more juice amps to the nakamichi if will give them the power they need to shine not that they aren't amazing sounding to begin with but, part of the hobby for me is swapping out components and just experimenting with the different tones each bring. Unfortunately I have a 6 and 8 year old girls and 2 dogs, which makes tube gear and even my record players suffer from my amateur gymnast jumping around the house attempting to land the perfect cartwheel or flat cannon ball onto the rug. Vibration = bad for vinyl listening. I have a dedicated music room but its also the home theater room. I could only afford to treat one room when we built the house 2 years ago. Its something to look forward to once they are older and can be around that type of thing. If I understand it correctly tubes put out more voltage where solid state put out more current so you're able to drive low sensitive monitors with significantly lower watts with tubes??
