Yeah i was thiking the same thing... I love AR...but that money could buy a lot of cool gear. But to each his own...i'm watching it to see how it pans out.

I have seen this high of price for Tannoy, Altec, and bigger furniture type speakers....but I was stunned as well.

I think its crazy when Ar-3's go for a grand and over.

No sale. As I stated in the other thread, the seller stood a chance of actually getting that price if he were to offer overseas shipping.

I have never sold anything on Eaby...I would be afraid to do the oversea's thing...but as long as they pay with paypal you should be good...right?

IMO, the seller is not realistic on the price and that's why they didn't sell. A mint set of Altec 755A's sold a week ago for $3100. Unless the overseas buyer is a hardcore AR or audio history fan, the AR1's have little appeal. This is before factoring in staggering shipping costs.

If I am dropping $3K...Its going to have 2 sets of speakers for A and B, an amp, a passive filter with two subs and a CD player...and a $500 buck recliner to sit in and listern to them in with a mini fringe (100 bucks) stocked with Great Lakes (14 bucks)!
