AR 228 made in 1995. What are they?

I came across some AR 228s and they are very ‘90s looking. Anyone know anything about these?

The AR 228's were designed by Ken Kantor, the designer of the AR MGC-1 Magic Speaker. This series was a last push effort by AR, to try and reclaim some of their former glory. Good speakers, and worth owning.

The 228's were released in 1995. An 8" 2-way. A modern AR18. Cost was $450 a pair. Spec'd 49 to 20KHz at 86dB sensitivity.

I would assume so.

I owned a pair back in the early 2000's, when everything AR could be found at clearance prices. Found them to be a nice sounding speaker. Had that classic AR sound. Not sure why I got rid of them.
