AR-2ax Speaker - what kind of wood veneer? Pine?

I make a fair amount of wood products with a pine finish. For me personally, I use pine because I plan on painting it. It's one of the worst looking grains out there, IMO. It's a construction wood for a reason. It's cheap.

Did you use anything to strip the stain or just sand them?

Also, I had a Larry's AR Oil Refinish Restoration Kit with Stain Renewer and Oil Finish from a pair of AR-3a speakers I touched up when I rebuilt the pots and crossovers. The Stain Renewer and Oil has since dried out. I cannot find Larry's on Ebay or by Google. Is he still around? If not, where can I get Walnut stain and oil for my AR-4a speakers?

Your speaker work is excellent!

Especially if it’s plywood from SYP. Hideous.
