Thanks Robert! Should have them back together tonight, the client will pick them up tomorrow evening.
 
These are finished and sounding lovely! Listening to Dave Brubeck-Time Out.
I'll bring them up to the family room to A/B them with my 3's so the client can hear them both.

I emailed pics to the client as I progressed, so he was kept up to date.
I brought them up to the family room and did some quick A/B comparisons between my 3's and the 3a's. I prefer the 3's. Acoustics are pretty good in this room.
I'll shoot a video this evening as you don't have many opportunities to compare these.

Hi Peter,
I prefer the 3's because the bass is a bit smoother, and the mids are more prominent. A bit richer sounding overall.
I shot several videos to compare them and I'll post them as soon as possible.

Keep looking! Your 3/3as are out there!

Well, we had a very nice evening listening to the 3as and 3's, talking gear and music. He actually in a band and has played in my town, He hung out for an hour and a half, we had a cold one, and listened to a lot of different music to demonstrate how great these speakers sound regardless of the genre. He was very happy with the sound and cabs.

So I finally shot another crappy video comparing my 1965 restored 3's vs. the 1973 3a's. Sound quality isn't great, but, you can tell the difference between the two.
