Are These Bad Capacitors???

I see something on top of the caps that looks like stick black foam rubber ? Never saw something like this before? There is no bubbling on the caps.

Probably not..Looks like at one time it had single sided adhesive foam covering those capacitors. The foam has long since deteriorated away. A little " goo gone" should clean up that mess.

Sorry the amp is a Pioneer A-70 circa 1983 not the new one. Also does anyone know if this is a class A amp?

Would it hurt leaving this on or would it be safe to peel off???

It is a way to mechanically secure the caps to each other, which enables the manufacturer to mount heavy caps on poor quality circuit cards without other mechanical support.
Wanting to peel off, use sticker remover, thinner or alike, or just leave as is.

That certainly looks like what is reaming in my caps , hope it a warranty issue ( joke)

Does anyone out there own one of these? My other question was about heat, I see that massive heat sinc so its probably there for a reason. The unit does get warm+, it sounds like it should, I had it hooked up to my Klipsch KG3 speakers and it sounded fine.

The seller claims it's a Class A amp but the specifications have no mention of Class A, specs only say it's a non switching amp.

I have read just because a amp is non switching does notautomatically mean its s classA.

Since the specs have no mention about Class A I think its not,?

The specified bias setting suggests non class A at only 32ma per transistor.

Read up on Pioneer Non-Switching, JVC Super-A, Technics New Class A, etc... technologies. It is a way to reduce transistor switching noise and lower distortion emulating a Class A amp.
