I've been through a 555A (similar) which needed some low-noise transistors, a few signal caps, and new power supply filters and heavier rectifiers. It had a decent sound and good performance when it left the bench.
The "regular" AU-555 also has some suspicious transistors in the design, so a little modernization could be beneficial. The potentially noisy/leaky 2SC369s and 2C-458s should probably go away

As for the power department, just found some efficient speakers ( 93,94 db + ) and don't worry about Sansui W...
If it is cheap and clean ( and working ) don't see what the dilema is. Nice amp from the beggining of Sansui transistor era, expect warm musical full sound.
You might expect some issues since it is more than 50 y old now but all in all if that happen any decent tech should solve it without problems, this is not complicated amp, simple design, great live sound.
