I just started an inventory for an AU-D11 I want to restore. Using the service manual. I was wondering why my counts seemed so low after I went page by page through the parts lists and then I noticed this comment on page 3 - "Since some of the capacitors and resistors are omitted from parts lists in this Service Manual, refer to the Common Parts List for capacitors & resistors, which was appended previously to Sansui Manual."
Just audit your unit - don't go by the parts lists as they are notoriously inaccurate - and also lacking in many key parts as you have found.
Don't even refer to the 'common parts list' - don't bother with it - you'll give yourself extra work.
Auditing your own unit is the tried and tested method, it worked once, right?

Thanks for the advice. I did audit and inventory the AU-D9 power supply board for parts and could read all the capacitors EXCEPT the small polystyrene ones. There are 12 total on the board and I'm hoping to find the specs for replacing these polystyrene capacitors.

If they haven't actually failed - leave them, they are the best type of capacitor you can get, and they don't 'age' except very rarely - just be careful not to overheat them (e.g. during unnecessary reflowing of joints).

From my experience all of the polystyrene caps you're referring to are marked the same way film caps are (Eg. 101 = 100pf, 471 - 470pf, 153 = 0.015uf, etc..).
I personally wouldn't replace these though (they are super high performance caps), unless they have obvious physical damage (heat/solvent melted bodies, 'sansui disease' on the legs, etc...). Stick to replacing the main electrolytics, and only the few odd film caps/resistors/transistors that have obvious physical stress symptoms, and/or test bad...

With so many fakes, and no 'MT200' case replacements available, I'm in a bind... PM me!

The cap in your picture RA is a 560pf polystyrene, you can see that it says '561J' on its side. The 'J' signifying a 5% value tolerance.

Yes, I bought replacement substitutes from 'Profusionplc.com' - a Sanken Distributor, I used 2SA1216Y & 2SC2292Y - they worked perfectly.
I had to change them because one OP transistor was blown, so I changed all four.

Thank you. Ah, the "J" is the tolerance -- Got it. Thank you very much.
I will plan on replacing the electrolytic capacitors on my initital pass over the PS/EQ Board. There are soldeedwire connections required to reinstall the board in the AU-D9. Working on it in place look nearly impossible even for only a few replacments. I will update the forum once I have completed the work and tested the unit.
For other owners, are there any other common issues I should look for? As I mentioned, I am the original owner but I grew up in Hawaii so it ran in warm and humid conditions for the better part of its 35 years to date. I am a vinyl guy so the phono pre section was always in use.

Hello John. Did you change Q3 and Q6 on the 3252 board? They are the large heatsinked transistors.
No, I didn't, I forgot to list the transistors I did replace - the four 'even larger heatsinked' output transistors.
