Audio Asylum Down?

...are they still using that ummm... minimalist software?
Yes, hence my good natured jab at their Commodore 64 finally dying. Have no problem with AA per se, but have witnessed major disrespect to designers, owners of companies and audio journalists from people who barely know how to wire their Soundesign stereos together.

I agree about the serious disrespect found on AA.The vinyl asylum amongst others has a few regulars who ride roughshod over anyone else's opinion, apparently confident that thier continued presence there is indication enough that they can get away with it and worse. :thumbsdn:
I get worried when I see the same attitude creeping in here, because the overall predominant mood af AK is one of discussion of different opinions with a rational evaluation of the pros and cons,as opposed to merely dismissing the topic or personal denigration of the poster or others.
I've witnessed a thread where the poster's first language was clearly not English, and he was struggling to find words to describe his listening experience. For a non-English speaker he was doing a d*amned good job of eneunciating his feelings.Where did it get him?Lot's of derision and below the belt remarks which stopped short of outright insult but which I considered to be demeaning none the less. One poster on that thread even had the temerity to declare the thread closed. This small-minded comment came from a newbie, who will no doubt think that this will be the tone he will take for his duration on AK.

Sorry to vent here folks but I don't like it when I see it on AA and I especially don't like to see it here on AK. :nono:

Hey, it's a world-wide web out there, fellas, and plenty of tolerance and room for more than one group, yeah?

I'm glad to see the ribbing here in relation to AA is purely of a kind-hearted, good-natured and friendly sort, and not one of a cruel, mean-spirited nature. I'd say the mild teasing has been done respectfully and lightly so far, no? And some clever quips, too. I'm sure there's not one shred of ill-will or intentions.

Just goes to show the quality, the high-calibre of folk who call home here, on a site of 16,000+ members. And another reason for me to be glad I'm a member of such a great group of people.

Because, even though it indeed is a world-wide web out there, fellas, and plenty of room for more than one audio group, there's never room for lousy disposition and bad behavior, and disrespectful behavior towards others.

I'm especially impressed with the dignity and respect the moderators are showing AA here. It's very reassuring and makes me very proud to be here. I mean that. For what little it's worth, I sincerely applaud you.

A real class act! :thmbsp:

I don't frequent AA, because they won't let me join. I found AA long before I found AK, and even way back then, no matter how many times I tried, they refused to authorize an account or even reply to e-mails. Eventually, I found this place and stopped trying over there. Haven't looked in on them for a long time... are they still using that ummm... minimalist software?
I am not sure if I am a member, but I think they allowed me the ability to post without joining (this was a while back, though). The site does have tons of info on everything. However, I do not like the layout, so I only go there when I can't find something on this site or AVS Forum.
