As for me... I've collected quite a stack of stuff in the basement, that I'm starting to work my way through. I have a larger order from PE on the way, mostly caps for replacing. My current project is putting together a fun little basement system for my friend, also in Portland. Bought some decent 3-way Yamaha bookshelf speakers (the ones everyone dislikes, not the ones that everyone likes) at a yard sale last summer, and put some damping material inside (automotive butyl pads, thought I'd give them a try). I'm going to replace the 20+ year old caps with some nicer ones from PE. In addition, I've tested and am going to clean up a mid-80s Technics receiver that he got from his mother in law.
And I'm working on getting a Technics SL-B210 turntable up and running for him -- I picked it up curbside over the summer. A gift from kind, older woman, hoping someone else would enjoy her late husband's gear.
This last one is giving me the most trouble. I ordered a new belt and its spinning again. Cleaned up pretty well. But the cueing system isn't working as expected. I went so far as to take the entire back off last weekend, but couldn't quite sort out what wasn't working correctly. The service manual i found for it is... kinda terrible. It has diagrams and charts, but no explanation as to how things actually work, or how to fix the cueing lever if it doesn't seem to be working.
Anyone ever tackle an issue like this on their own?
Thanks!
