Audire Audio Components

I like when theres a piece of gear that's well off the radar ( ie: minimal web info) that blows away the more sought after and well known units.

The now "vintage" Audire Otez ( and it's smaller sibling the Forte) fit that description quite well. Just like the Crown SA-2 this thing is a BEAST! but it's not just all thump and no detail . it seems pretty well rounded and earned it's place right next to the Aragon 4004 II as one of my new (old) favorites.
I'm Looking forward to hearing the Forte and Diffet Pre-amp as well. More on that later. Anyone else here using Audire Gear ( past or present?)

PICS borrowed from the web. ( when I stop listening long enough I'll get some shots of the actual unit in its new space).

Very nice amp. I bet it sounds great. One thing I noticed is the speaker terminals are very close to the RCA jacks. Does that present a problem?

I'm using the balanced inputs so no issue there. but even connecting rca's and using speaker cables with bananas or spades shouldn't be an issue.

The Otez is essentially the Class AB version of the Audire Parlando which ran in class A full time. Same chasis and overall build though. Based on list prices they were only a few hundred bucks apart.

Super rare and super nice.

I have a habit of acquiring the odd ball stuff. No legions of people forming a tribe around the brand or particular model. This is yet another one of those brands and units.
I posted a similar "who else is using...." thread for VAC PA 80/80 Tube amp and couldn't find one person here who'd ever seen one. :) Makes my connection with others around particular units a bit more rare just like the pieces in question.

Man, that's a beauty! Don't hurt your back! :nono: :D

Weights about as much as the Crown SA2 and bordering the weight of a McIntosh MC7300

Although more "brute" in the visual department. The Nakamichi PA 7 or similarly spec Threshold might be a good contender for an A/B comparison. Today the Otez will be paired with the equally rare RDL Acoustics FS-1 speaker system by Roy Allison, with a Denon DAP 5500 pre-amp and Onkyo DX706 CD on the front end.

Basically a system comprised of components that have little following to speak of on the boards and on the Web in general. - that also means they have little market value, but that's fine too. Just need to make room by parting ways with something with more commercial interest. B&K , Adcom, etc. Which is quite good as well.

Julius Siksnius made some really nice sounding amps. I used an Audire One to drive Magneplanar MG-IIs back in the mid 70s.

I like those pictures a lot!

If i knew who they belonged to, id pass the comment along. :) They are borrowed from the web for now.

The audire preamp (Diffet 3) despite its dated facade performs very well. I have not poked around under the hood yet.

I have seen a few pieces here and there but a rare siting at best.

I had only heard of Audire and seen the brochure years ago prior to acquiring the amps . the other brand that is rarely seen is Dunlap-Clarke I once found a Dunlap Clarke Dreadnaught 500 that was in a home fire. the amp didn't get burned but the smoke damage was extensive. Carbon build up thick enough to scrape off with a razor. so it went to the recycling center. I really wanted to get it back up and running but it would have required way too much effort.

The Otez will make up for that Dreadnaught 500 and live on it it's memory. :)
The Audire Forte is much smaller but the thing weights a ton.

As a past owner of Audire equipment and Always a big fan of Julius's work, the Otiz is a great amp , ahead of the Aragon IMO , which are also great amplifiers ...

Regards

You dodged a bullet, the dreadnaught was nothing special , couldnt get past it's unreliabilty fast enuff in 79, Audire is much better sounding stuff..

Years back, A neighbor of mine had a dreadnaught 500 and loved it. Sounded good driving a pair of ohm c2 speakers. The otez is a keeper as are the pair of forte amps which are slightly different. One forte has both xlr and rca inputs the other only has xlr. Looks like i will have to make a pair of jumpers to use the rca connectors on these units if i want to use the Diffet 3 preamp which strangle enough does not have blanced out. ( but the Denon Dap5500, 2500 both have balanced out so ive been using those preamps and they pair up well with the audire amps)

and finally a pic of the Forte and Diffet 3 pre-amp. (planning on new wood side pannels for pre-amp). I'm completely impressed with the performance of these units thus far.

Always liked the sound of the Forte's. Used 2 of them 20 yrs ago bridged. 500W at 8 and 800W at 4. I would love to have heard their 100W class A unit. Same as the Otiz but biased Class A

Bostown, hope you're taking care of my Otiz ..... :)

The Audire gear I now have could very well have been yours at one point. You know how these things change hands amongst audio junkies. Did you also sell a pair of forte's and a diffet 3 pre with the Otez? which is currently paired with a Cary SLP-88 pre amp powering a pair of B&W matrix 802's I only have high praise for this combo. Certainly a great alternative setup that will give my existing Aragon Gear a run for it's money and a break from time to time.

... and the Forte's are also quite good. They're Paired with M&K S-150THX Satellites in my practice space.

I'm officially a Fan of Audire and Julius's work. Now I need to get my hands on a Parlando which is the Class A "Otez" that you mentioned :)
