Avid 102 Speakers

I have a chance to pick up a set of very clean Avid 102 speakers. Does anyone know anything about them? Worth $80?

He also has a set of Norman Labs 8's. I've heard that they are nice....they don't look that great. Which would be a better buy...the Norman Labs for $125 or the Avids for $80?

I'm not familiar with the Norman's, but I've always liked the Avid's. They were a very good line. I don't think $80 is out of line if they are in good shape.

I was wary that the woofers may not be original, since they only had 4 screws in them. I found pictures of both, so perhaps they changed during production. They should have butyl rubber surrounds, from what I read.

A lot of AVID fans here on the AK forum!
CR magazine rated the cheaper AVID 100 speakers a 'Best Buy' back in the early 70's.
I'd go $80....BUT....they better be in near-mint condition for THAT price.
