Bang and Olufsen Beogram 3404 compatible cartridge?

Picked up a Bang and Olufsen Beogram 3404 TT. Got it running, but the MMC 20E tip is gone. I do have a MMC 4000 cart that fits, but is the 4000 compatible with the 3404 arm?

Yes. It was an earlier version of the MMC20EN and is directly compatible.

Bang & Olufsen MMC cartridge or SoundSmith B&O SMMC compatible cartridge. Expect to pay nearly $300 on up.

Do the MMC20 series cartridges have the same suspension failure problem that the MMC1-5 cartridges have? If so then I think one needs to find someone who can rebuild them. Not just re tip.

I have the old MMC5 that my RX2 came with. Both channels work in it but the suspension is shot. I’m thinking I’ll send it to Benny Amina at Amina audio. Now I guess it’s Modular Electronics. They are a little bit less than a SoundSmith SMMC4. Which is what I have on mine currently.

I am not a B and O expert, but I have seen this suspension issue.
The only fix was to cut a tint slot close to the front of the cartridge underneath which gives,access to the suspension.
The suspension can be treated and debris that is collected removed. This fix works ( not diy) and it is the only way to do it.
I receded one as a bearing experience and the difficulty reflects what people charge to do it.
Tons are apparently making these cartridges now, not seen thrm myself but I am told thry are quite good.
