Fancy design company. Not fancy as in high-end, but as in high-style.

The foam for the passive radiator will be rotted by now, and is nearly impossible to replace as the passive radiator is unique to this rare speaker...

I don't remember B&O using a passive radiator on anything. IIRC, that model has four 6-1/2" and a tweeter. It's bass reflex. Surrounds are available and B&O is still in business. If the drivers are bad, google for speaker repair or contact the company for recommendations.

My dad had a pair in the game room when I was a kid. Very nice sounding speaker. I agree about the foam though...tread carefully. Little much on the $$ end if you ask me.

Assuming they are in good condition and the foam is good I'd say more like $100-$150 is fair. I passed on a pair a year or so ago for $200 so..... Some might say a little more. I like the M and S line better though if your set on B&O.

Well I do know that they do, having had a client who wanted me to fix them!
I took pictures to.

The 6" woofers use rubber surrounds.

Interesting speaker, typical B&O cleverness. When we set them up in a listening room and went head to head against more conventional speakers there was any number of Kef, Mission, PSB, Mirage, whatever that would sound better. Once the typical customer got them home and stuck one beside the sofa and the other across the room under a side table, or any other of a number of "real world" installations that those annoying customers would insist on, the RL140s would sound great where the other speakers would have sounded awful. Those guys knew what they were doing and who they were selling to.

i bought a pair of these and refoamed all 4 woofers. They're a cool design, especially when they include the floor stands. the stands were optional and a little harder to come by.

After I got mine up and running I wasn't all that thrilled with the sound. I thought they sounded a bit flat. Some B&O gear is nice but the RL140's wouldn't be on my list for critical listening.

The Beovox RL 140 is not that bad at all, but off curse it depends on what you are looking for.

When new there would be no question that dollar for dollar you would get more quality sound going somewhere else.

B&O has all ways been a company where the looks (read design) is important and if any way possible not at the cost of sound. Also the build quality stands high in the company together with reliability, the B&O stuff is expensive so it also has to last.
