very similar deck ..... gxc-760d

Having a running GXC-760D, i'd say it's a horses mule, that may explain the difference between the 570 model, and the 760 ~ basically same deck

( The 760d model is easier to put a bookshelf though ;)

Just picked this one up a couple of weekends ago. GX-F95 from 1981. From what I can see popping the top and looking at the innards, it appears to be the next gen version of the 760, adding LED meters, auto calibration for bias and level and some computerized memory and programming features I'll probably never use. Vintagecassette.com cites the model as having Dolby B and C, but either that's an error or there was a mid-model revision, because this unit only has B.

This is the newest cassette deck and the newest Akai model of anything I've ever owned (previously had two 70's Akai R-R decks), so no idea what came after this one.

Gx-912

I have not auditioned the 570 but I have heard that they are really great.

I do have a GX-912 and I can vouch for the sonics, which are up there with the best decks I have listened to.

The frequency range with metal tape is 20Hz to 21,000Hz, amazing.

I would love to get my hands on a GX F95, if I could get it for a reasonable price.

The GX-709 is decent as well, just not up to the 912's silence, warmth and wide sound stage.

Cheers

I have a GXC-730D, which has incredible sonics. It doesn't have some of the bells and whistles found on the 570D, though.
