Best Live Recordings...

Rolling Stones' European Tour, 1973 (1 September - 19 October), specifically:

1. Foret Nationale: Brussels, Belgium. 17 October 1973 (1st show)
2. Wembley Empire Pool: London, UK. 9 September 1973

Remarkable shows in general, but these two dates stand out. If you cut & paste the two shows together in the right way, you'll have the very best ever live Stones performance and perhaps the best live recording by any rock band. Highlights: "You Can't Always Get What You Want" & "Midnight Rambler" (Brussels); "Gimme Shelter" & "Street Fighting Man" (London).
 
Found a copy of David Bromberg Band "How Late'll Ya Play 'Til?" - one I hadn't heard in years & years. Not a bad sounding recording, and I'd forgotten what a good band this was. Never Gonna Be Your Fool was a cult classic... I remember hearing it on the AOR station, something I don't know how they could get away with, as many times as he says "G... D....".
Bullfrog Blues is a song the liner notes say Bromberg ad-libs every time he plays it... it's just him playing some great bottleneck guitar. And apparently unlike most musicians, he appreciated good audio because he does this part about being jealous of your roommate, and he lists the guy's gear: "You see a Garrard turntable with a Pickering cartridge, a Bogen amplifier, Jensen speakers, a Revox tape recorder, and a Stromberg-Carlson AM-FM tuner", and with that there's a few cheers from the audience. I don't really have a point here, except that it's a humorous bit.

Now I'll go pour another Johnny Red and listen to the rest.

The Kinks - Rockpalast Grugahalle (Essen, Germany), 1982
The Who - The Summit (Houston, TX), 1975 (exceptional soundboard SQ)
The Who - Warehouse (New Orleans), 1971 (more for the set list than the SQ)
AC/DC - Agora Ballroom (Cleveland, OH), 1977 (not an AC/DC fan, but this one smokes!
West, Bruce & Laing - Carnegie Hall (NYC), 1972
Oasis - Earls Court (London), 1995
Oasis - Hammerstein Ballroom (NYC), 1997 (maybe their best set list ever?)
The Rolling Stones - Tarrant County Convention Center Arena (Fort Worth, TX), 1972
Rockpile - The Palladium (NYC), 1979 (a smoking set)
Led Zeppelin - Fillmore West (San Francisco), 1969
Led Zeppelin - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (NY), 1975
The Mahavishnu Orchestra - Music Hall (Cleveland), 1972
Lucinda Williams - Boston Orpheum (Boston), 1999 (IMO a boot of unsurpassed SQ)
