Best speaker score under $100

Late Gen PSB Stratus Gold - $100

Didn't get a deal as good as this, but here are the deals I have scored:

PSB Century Subsonic 2i - $25 CAD
PSB Subsonic III - $25 CAD
PSB Stratus C5i center - $50 USD
PSB Century 300i - $75 CAD

I also have bought a pair of PSB Stratus Bronzes for $250 CAD, but obviously, that doesn't qualify.

I got a pair of Realistic Mach Two's, missing the woofers, for $50. Into those I installed a pair of Radio Shack aftermarket 15" woofers I got for free. Does that count?

Wow, old thread revived, no one reported scores after Dec 2019, and we pick up the thread in 2022.

- DIY towers MTM arrangement, Dynaudio drivers - $80
- KEF LS50 and B&W PM1 for $700, sold LS50 for $700, and kept the PM1
- Infinity RS III - $50
- Sony SS-M7a with Sony stands - $100

Pair of KLH Sixes from the curb
Pair of Technicals SB6060's from the same house by the curb (same price)

Told the lady down the street that I had trash picked the speakers (KLH) she left by the curb. She asked if I wanted some more (Technics). I couldn't say yes fast enough.

Some of the latest scores:
HPM 40 for $25, 10 minute drive. Needing surrounds, some cabinet TLC
Sound Dynamics 500 Concert Monitors, off auction, needing nothing. $35
Design Acoustics PS-10A from local thrift, needing foams. $30
Sonab B-31 towers from Sweden, excellent sound, needing nothing. $70
Mirage SM.1 large bookshelf off auction, needing little. $50
Infinity 4001 RS, not EMIT, non-original woofers, but I had some. $70
PSB 70R needing foam on woofers and passives, off auction. $50
....and many more, but:
Best score ever for me, and relatively unknown, a pair of Szabo 626 medium towers from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada,
using proprietary Cambridge 6-1/2" woofers (spec'd by John Szabo) and Philips tweeters with felt rings, two-way, totally unassuming
and, as I have reported here before, I am hooked. Paid just under $3 on auction because nobody knows what they are. These are the best
speakers I personally have experienced, and they will go nowhere, unless I can find a pair of Szabo 831 or 833, and even then these are staying.
Just do everything right, and more bass than a 6-1/2" woofer should be allowed to produce.

In keeping with this thread revival since December 2019 I added the following speakers for under $100;

Snell J Type IV - Free (Needed refoam so cost was about $40)
Magnepan MMG - $50 (Facebook Marketplace)

Since I brought home the free Khorns a few years ago I haven't really haven't looked for anymore speakers. I've passed on more than a few free pair but somehow a couple have followed me home including a pair of Speakerlab Super 7's, OLA's and recently a pair of vintage Harmon Kardon 2 ways. I thought they were KLH 4's when I looked at them a few weeks earlier and a bit disappointed when I found out they were HK's, but I took them anyway because the cabinets were really nice and I grew up a few miles from them. The OLA's are now on the B switch on the Sansui AU-555A in the bedroom (AR5's are on A and I switch between them) and the Super 7's are shop speakers for now waiting for me to build nicer cabinets.

Snagged a pair of 12" University 312 tri-axials for $60. They sound excellent with my tube pre-amp.
