Best speaker score under $100

I never paid more than a $100 for any pair of speakers I have ever owned......the best ones were all under $50, mostly around $30.

I felt like a thief last summer with these for $30.....mid day, the middle of the summer, and since these places put so much online they lasted that long. They would have sold much faster once upon a time. Was like a blast furnace outside....so yeah, July.

These for $40 two weeks earlier. The 4311's are an excellent speaker!

These sounded terrible. From march last year. $25.

Yamaha NS 1000's from 12 years ago this August. $30 (And they have Yamaha Grill Covers)
I don't have a pics of them together. Still have them.

Two different Pairs of HPM 100's. One pair had a woofer with cone lock. $25 for that pair, $40 for a Woofer on Ebay.
Another pair that amazingly lasted a whole day. I was busted but got some Birthday cash and damn they were still there. $75.

An odd pair of Polk SDA Protypes so I was told by somebody on here. $40.

JBL L100 A's, no grill covers. $12 (they should be worth $15.....)

JBL S38, another lousy speaker, $36.

Tannoy System 800's. Still have them. $20.

Kef 102's $30

Kef 103/4 $20

(Both Kefs need ferrofluid replacement for tweeters)

The ones without pics I might still have some pics on Photo turd bucket before I realised I could save them elsewhere, and I was using an XP PC. I still have the hard drive. I have to pull those pics off of that drive.

No bit coin......

By far the best are the Totems, and the NS 1000's. And the JBL 4311's were excellent. I would have kept them if I needed speakers.

I have passed on quite a few speakers mentioned in this thread..........all of them over ten years ago.

I have three 'best scores'...
Klipsch KG 3.5's from a Salvation Army in NC - $19.99 for the pair and mint, as in they appeared new.
ADS L520 (later model with metal grills) from GW in SoCal for $99. They aren't mint but are OK / better now but sound excellent.
ADS L300c from a local guy liquidating his collection for $40, as I recall, in excellent condition and refoamed woofers.

Altec Bolero C's 50 bucks
B&W 704's 40 bucks
2 pair of Corals 10 bucks
TF 600's 100 bucks
HPM 100's. 4 bucks

AR3a's with X stands and boxes $30
AR3a's (dead tweeters, replaced with HI-VI Q1R) $20
AR11's $100 (most I ever paid for used speakers)
AR TSW 110's $13
Rectilinear Lowboys $19
Sansui SP200's $3
Sansui SP200's free
Marantz HD77's $30
ADC 303ax's $3
Minimus 7's walnut $5
Canton Karat 20's $18

All have been restored and work perfect.

I scored some Wharfedale CRS 9's for free a while back. The drivers weren't original, I eventually got around to pulling them apart to see what was inside.
The Woofers were Peerless 850146 CSX woofers.
The Midrange were ScanSpeak 13/M 8640-00.
The tweeters were blown. Which I replaced using Vifa's D25AG-35-00.
After measuring the Crossover Inductors, I input all the data into Xsim and replaced the caps with Polycaps. The caps for the tweeter needed changing from 4uf to 8uf.
The Speakers sound great (to me anyway). There's something very satisfying about this process. I want to learn more. From scanning the internet I think these drivers are of a reasonably good quality. According to Xsim the SPL is down a bit from 300hz down. I'm not sure whether this was done deliberately, due to cabinet resonance at low frequency. (Apparently this could have been a consideration). However the bass does go very low

All from last 3 years, some thrift, some CL
Acoustic Research AR2ax - $75
KEF Coda III - $24
Klipsch KG4 - $25
Pioneer CS-33A - $10
Pioneer CS-77A - $10.50
Polk Monitor 5 - $34
Polk Monitor 5 - $51
Polk Monitor 7 - $90
Polk Monitor 7 w/ stands - $100
Of course they all need(ed) something, foam or at least caps. The Polks generally had magnet shift.

Infinity Kapps 8's from the local goodwill for 60.00 and I re-foamed them. sound sensational but are VERY power hungry. they are sitting in the room with the rest of my extra equipment as I am now using my Klipsch RF-7's that were a craigslist find but I payed alot for those and were worth every penny.

I paid $60 for a pair of EPI 100s not really expecting much. New foams and caps and I was blown away. I got some EPI M110s (150s in vinyl cabs) for $50, they’re amazing. Then I got a pair of EPI 120Cs for $50. EPI’s the best bargain in vintage speakers. Ima keep tryna find more

Scored a pair of Klipsch KG5.5s at an estate sale for $31. Next best score, pair of Bose 301 series III for $20. Both work great, not cosmetically perfect but nothing a sharpie couldn't hide.

Alright, I was buying some nice Advents, the guy told me $50 but I had to take this pair of Infinity Reference Series Three, nothing special. I put new foams on the Infinity’s woofers and mids and offered them to a friend. He was appreciative and said “I’ve got some old speakers you can have, they don’t work”. He brought over a pair of JBL L96 in good shape. I put new foam on them, new binding posts and fixed a broken tinsel wire. I called him and offered them back to him, he didn’t want them back. So for about $50 I got a pair of L96.

ADS 910s - FREE.....although described as "not working" and oddly Pioneer....
Unfortunately not me, but someone in New England just had a Massive score.... I was apparently too late to the game.
Hope it was someone from AK!

I got my first pair of HPM-100’s for $75.
My wife picked me up a pair of Ohm Walsh 2’s for $15 (she’s a keeper!)
I got a pair of Boston Acoustic A150’s for $50, paid another $50 to have them re-foamed.
