Some old "B.M.W.'s" are nice. Probably the actual ones are good from a tehcnical point of view, but I really hate them. The German cars (minus "Opel"), especially the luxury one are preffered by all kind of idiots around here - they want to show that they have money or power, so I do have adverse reactions to them. Not all driving German sports or luxury cars are idiots, but most are... when a "B.M.W." stops at a pedestrian crossing, I'm amazed.

Yes, those are original Talbots from Berlin as listed in the parts books as optional from the factory on this model.

Very, very nice! Vintage ones are getting hard to find these days. I had the Talbots with green logos on my 1602.

Judging by current pricing, I'd say it's time to get it together and either drive it or sell it. A bit of a bubble right now. Looking at current economic situation, it may not last much longer.A friend actually owns one of these. It's been sitting on stands with parts in boxes at a storage unit for the last 30 years.
I took this photo of a friend's last year, or so. He had spent $200,000 on the restoration. The previous owner was another friend who bought it probably 30-years ago for maybe $6000.
I've asked him many times about the status of his Turbo. And all it does is irritate him. It is really irritating to his wife, as they have been paying monthly for a climate-controlled, fancy storage unit for the BMW and his mega collection of old McIntosh tubed gear.Judging by current pricing, I'd say it's time to get it together and either drive it or sell it. I haven't brought up the topic (old cars or stereos in storage) in the last 10 years.
You should see the BMW freight boxes in that storage room. All 1970s-80s manufacturing manifests. It's like drool-drool, yum-yum!
BTW... were there any OEM colors for the Turbo, other than white or silver with the Motorsport stripes? It's the only two colors I've ever seen. And no, I have never driven one.

Incidentally, when he bought his Turbo, he was seriously considering a 507 Roadster. That was his first choice, but someone outbid him. So as solace, he got the Turbo.
My father's first BMW (out of a dozen) was a 1966 white BMW 1600. I remember the car although I was just four years old. The 1600 ("Neue Klasse") is the four door version, the 1602 is the two door version.
The white and silver were the only colors the turbo came in from the factory.

Up to around 10 years ago those older BMW's were still a decent bargain, I haven't seen one for sale, sitting in a yard, in a long time. Now the E30's are hot and the kids are loving the E46's cuz they're super easy to mod and very fast.
A couple years ago I was at the local wood-working store and this delicious M5 parked next to me. 282 Hp in the European Models? Not sure if that's true, back in the 80's you were a star if you had over 200.

Looks like the 2002 I drove from LA to Boston in '79.
