I have a set of bose 901 series 1's. and i just got a series 2 eq at a thrift store. Would using this eq change the sound significantly from a series one eq?

is there any ill problems using this eq?

The Series 2 EQ is minimally different from the Series 1 EQ. They'll definitely interchange. The driver and cabinet parameters are identical on both series, so either EQ will work fine.

Gordon.

vanman-let me know what you think of those Bose through the Sansui. How are the surrounds on them? Bose catches a lot of flak here but with enough power and good surrounds, and a working eq they should sound pretty good. Do you have stands for them?

Personally i hate bose. but these were at a price i couldnt refuse. THe surrounds are perfect. all ive used them with so far is the NAD.
i guess i could hook them up to my kenwood/sansui set up.:scratch2:

I am kind of new with the Bose 901. I have a set of refoamed series IV with stands and a Sansui 9090 hooked up. The sound last night was so awesome and better than pretty much anything I've heard (I have 7 sets of speakers). Clear highs, accurate mids, deep bass and all this at low volume. The 9090 is rebuilt.

They key to these speakers is to use the Bose EQs. Nothing else will give you the curve. I have a 10 band EQ and it does not even come close. You must set the Bose EQ at the beginning of every CD played and in corrillation to the volume level. More volume, less Bass and Treble, newer CD cut with loudness, run the EQ at minimum.

I also run a Bose 901 series I set with another series IV Bose EQ with great results. There are really some things that the 901s do very well, for one thing it is reproducing life-like mids.

From the unported series 1 or 2, the bass can be a bit less. I recapped both the EQs by replacing the 10 electorlytic capacitors and that brought the speakers to life.

The only time Bose really impressed me was when they were ran on a wall with nothing in-between them, except a picture on the wall. A friend had the 501 series 4 the cool real walnut ones. He set these up per Bose instructions if I recall correctly. Sitting in the classic triangle they imaged very well and went out side the walls easily. As usual with the Bose the bass was a bit shy but precise.
