Today I bought a pair of these speakers with original equalizer and stands. I have to place them right but I couldn’t wait. Frist impresion is good. Maybe attach an Deer Creek EQ. anyone familiar with those EQ?

If your original EQ is working properly (a big IF, I know; the caps in these are getting past their use-by date), I find it unlikely that the Deer Creek DSP EQ will provide superior sound, since the latter is just an emulator of the former. I also, personally, couldn't justify the cost of the Deer Creek DSP.

However, you could try rolling it yourself by purchasing a standard MiniDSP and then applying the curve using the MiniDSP software.

As you're probably aware, that's not an ideal room for those. They really need a large room with a flat wall behind and to the sides.

However, most of us don't have an ideal room, and make do with what we have. Depending on how much flexibility you have with regards to placement, you might want to experiment a bit more.

In fact it is a big room, for Dutch norms. Its 5 x 8 m1 and our listening position in this room is 4,5 m1 from the speakers.
For now it sounds good! The 901,s are nice speakers and de lows are bizar!
I don't think they can compete with my Yamahas in terms of mids and highs and openness, but the 901,s sound nice and ‘round’ and we think pleasant.

It is better that way because:
1) the speakers are further out from the wall giving the sound an opportunity to reflect properly off the that wall.
2) the Yamaha are not blocking the sound from around the speaker that is reflected.

Improvements, move the speakers a bit closer together to see if you can get a good reflection of the outside drivers bouncing off the front wall then the side wall. On the side that has such a short side wall maybe adjust things so you get as much of that reflection as possible. I might start with the hard stop of putting the speaker close to the edge of the screen and moving them out a bit at a time to hear the differences. Having the stands fully in front of the table should be an improvement.

I liked the 901s in my sound room on top of 28" speakers instead of the stands. Got them up above other things in the room that would interfere with the sound.

The Yamahas will give you an accurate detailed presentation. The Bose will make you feel like you are listening to a concert at the arena or other large space. Bose would like us to think of a nice concert hall but in some installations the sound is limited with extra or not enough reflections to convey that concert hall image properly. Nice powerful speakers when done right.

I placed them in such a way that the reflection on the sides should at least be the same, starting from the shortest side (Finnoven) Please note that we are very satisfied with the sound and that the reflections are ok for now. I just mentioned some difrences between speakers that we hear and name.

My wife and I talk a lot about the sound quality of different vintage speakers versus modern ones. It is a bit of a search for what we think is a nice sound and a detailed reproduction.
