Both drivers go higher in freq

Leave the foam alone by now. Looks perfectly normal from here.

I agree about a small dent on the VC. Check by yourself, from here is not easy to confirm that.

This is not normal, the VC shows signs of rubbing:

Rubbing? Why would it be rubbing, and against what?

Also, how to I remove the foam from the dome, since some of it's stuck there, is alcohol and a qtip, or something else?
Should I also clean the rub marks?

Sorry for having so many questions, this is my first time troubleshooting and trying to repair a driver.
 
The scratches on the inside of the voice coil former imply rubbing against the pole piece. This could be from an offcenter dome, a shifted pole structure, or maybe some grit that got in there. Hard to say.
 
I'd clean the magnet gap with masking tape, check the VC for any dents, and try the tweeter with some test tones , on a table, without the screws, to check if rotating the dome on different positions you find one point where it works fine without distortions.

Don't worry about that fiber on the magnet. If they don't get into the magnet gap, that's fine. It's a very light material supposed to be in there.

Is the dome perfectly aligned horizontally on the magnet ? I've seen deformed domes causing the VC to touch the magnet.

When I tried moving it around, I felt like there was nearly no wiggle room.

And every time I try and put it in, even when aligned with the screws, i hear rubbing noises that sound like scrunching up a piece of aluminum.

Looking at it side to side, I feel like to coil is wider than it's supposed to be, but that's just me I've never done this before...

Rotating around changed the sound, but it never sounded perfect, it just moved from close to not even, and not once did it break or turn off in any way. What do?

I tried smacking the magnet around and nothing got out. Is it okay to put in something thin inside and see if there is anything?
 
Sure. Just cut a slice of stiff paper and insert it into the gap. Maybe even a slice of a business card. Should go all the way to the bottom. Then slide it around the circle.
 
That's considerably clearer as to what you mean. One possibility often suggested is that the capacitors in the crossover be replaced, but that is probably not likely to be your issue since the typical reason to recap is that old electrolytic caps have drifted in value or even died. But your speakers look new enough that that shouldn't be an issue, unless the crossover was built as cheaply as possible and low power caps were used. In which case they may have been damaged. So it would be worth looking at the crossover and posting a picture.
But it is worth asking - what amp are you using with these speakers? Is it comfortable with their impedance? Is it powerful enough? It sounds like at least part of your problem is distortion at higher power levels, and the amp is often the issue.

Hello. I've mentioned a couple of times that the fiber is a very light weight material installed by the manufacturer, it should be in there. Just install back the material you removed. That's not the problem. I suspect (by looking at the picts), that the dome is a bit askew or deformed, so the VC is not perfectly perpendicular to the magnet plane, so rubbing at one side.

Quick question if you know... I just bought a multimeter, and discovered that the connection measures at 2.1/2.2 ohms... Is that good? I feel like it should be higher...
