what i got from the show is never have your first wife be your bookeeper that has got to suck !!!!!( now you know why he was cranky)

RIP Boyd. I watched several of his shows on the tube last year and it seemed to me that the guy just didn't look very good so I'm not surprised that he's dead.

I thought that a lot of the work that was shown on "American Hot Rod" was, well, crude and that really poor judgment was shown when they took a fairly nice and original Model T and destroyed it in order to use the body on the lakester.

Still, a colorful individual that was able to make a living out of something fun.

Murray

A true artist, maybe a bit hard to get along with. His ideas and concepts were simple and elegant.

Do not like to disrespect the dead but I have no respect for that man after watching a couple seasons of his show. And people think I'm a real ahole. I gots nothing on him...

Don't forget that what you saw was TV, and not the whole story. Creative editing can give a much different story for the sake of entertainment. I liked the show, but didn't care for the "Boyd" look of his designs.

"His company has released a statement stating that Coddington was "a long-time diabetic" who "died from complications that were brought on from a recent surgery."

Last week I was reading up about John Ritter's untimely death, and the resulting lawsuits, so perhaps details are being withheld due to impending legal actions???

Hi,

Knowing about him being Diabetic now I would say he didn't take care of his blood sugars. Lows will make you very irritable and crabby. I am talking from personal experience being a Type 1 insulin pumper. I want all AKers with the Big D to respect and care for it. I want you all around for more fine tunes and discussion.

have they said cause of death yet? Id say a heart attack from yelling at his employees!
Odds are that young kid in the shop who was always screwing up finally had enough and buried one of those big 1-1/2" Snap-On combo wrenches in the back of his head.

He was snorting blow off a stripper's boobs in Vegas.
Oh wait, maybe that was somebody else...
John Entwhistle of the Who, while Sinatra use to eat scrambled eggs off of them.

I didn't care for the guy on the tv show but loved some of his cars. Cadzilla was one of my all time favorites.

R.I.P. Boyd

Having worked in the "hot-rod" business, I think he was a real ass. That being said, he was also a genius when it came to cars. That shop was a real pressure cooker, I am surprised he lasted as long as he did considering the stress he was constantly under with the unrealistic deadlines always being imposed. RIP Boyd.

I tip-toed very carefully into this thread expecting everyone to be all ''oh what a great guy he was'' etc.... Luckily that wasn't the case. In fact the only bigger a-hole than him in the hot-rod world was that ''blue bear'' kid that worked for him.

All we need now is that so-called ''bike-builder'' Paul Teutel Sr (who by the way, if he does have to spend so much time in the gym should at least work on his Goddam legs!) to fall off his perch.

There is a major difference in character between Sr. & Coddington, don't you think?

You don't see a difference between the two, seriously?

Are you kidding me? Re-read my post and you'll see I said they are nothing alike.

Let me clarify it for you. ''They do not share the same character traits''.

Ergo, they have nothing in common.

Wow!!! I used to live a block away from his shop in La Habra, CA. Way before they were doing the show. I use to know a guy that worked there.
