Bozaks?

I am not so sure the swapped mid will fit…
Mish mash. Has worth on ebay, not in stereo pair. B209A, B209C from B313 system, 1950s B207a woofer tweeter combo. N10102 crossovers are all good no matter what year, wonderful inductors. Or put back in cabinets and put back up for sale the way you found them. Way too much time and money to make a nice Bozak system out of at this point.

These are speakers from the B-302a cabinets I have and the smaller green cabinets- I am swapping the parts from one pair to the other.

That B209C mid, goofy front mount one, requires a larger hole. You’d have to embiggen your cabinet hole by about a 1/4” for it to fit. Then your cabinet will be too big to accommodate the proper rear mount B209B. I’ve done all that with a router, wood donuts and days of woodworking. Blech. I would really suggest putting it back and stepping away.

Bozaks look easy, appear easy, and suck the unwary in. I try to tell everyone I can to stay away, don’t do it. There are certain years, certain models, and you really need to be on your A game with woodworking and electronics to get these !?$&@);; ?(;:/- properly updated. You’ll be certain Iam lying to you, or just being an ass. But Iam not, or at least not trying to be. Bozaks will tear you and your family apart if you aren’t careful.

That’s a front mount?

So... while I can tell you're trying to be helpful, this kind of information to THIS audience, that loves researching and tinkering and hoarding rare orphan speakers, is akin to a drug dealer telling his regular customer, "You don't want this, it's too raw, it'll mess you up"

Only referring to the speaker Ben g a front mount- it was rear mounted in the one cabinet, so I simply did the same on the other- installed it the same way I took it out.

It was back mounted in the cabinet I pulled it from- I put it back in the same way in the b302 cab, seemed to fit fine.

Massive apologies, the mids can’t be back mounted in B313’s. The B209C mids were made for the 313s, but to state they never made it into a factory pair of 302a’s would be stupid. Those mids are tougher to find too.

So CAN it be back mounted in a 302??

So I guess I need to know now if it is bad to rear install that mid??

Depends. Some Bozak mids have parts of their aluminum surrounds that protrude out from the front of the driver. The hole in your baffle may stifle the dispersion of your mid. This is one of the huge benefits of front mounting any driver. But that’s your call. If the spacing of driver to hole is too tight, or if there’s plenty of room? You can run a bevel bit on your router and open up the mid hole on your baffle too. But then you may run into mounting screws.

the 209c can be front or rear mounted. The flange on it allowed it to be dropped in the baffle from the front ( w/ slightly larger hole) but it will rear mount as well.
