Brasil 2014

That Van Persi Goal was beautiful............

In another matters: The Kaiser is in BIG Trouble.....He will not be able to get away this time; but it seems like he still believes he is above the law, acting as arrogant as ever.....I suspect that a lot of heads will roll.......

He said he did not understand the accusations because they were in "Juristenenglisch" (legal English). Hahaha Kaiser Franz you are priceless...like always... :D

However - I hope so much that this Qatar nonsense will be cancelled soon...

Robben was fantastic yesterday, absolutely fantastic!!!

He was given many choices, and contacted in many occasions including to either meet in person or by answering a questionaire that was written in both english and Deutsch; he choose to ignore all requests.....
But he keeps acting so arrogant and that is hurting him a lot.....lets see how this 90 day suspension brings him down...

The Netherlands definitely embarrased Spain....maybe they wake up after this, maybe not, it is too early to tell......

I wonder how the heat is affecting them all.....

As you guys can understand, I had a great night. Shame about the hangover... Even if we lose the rest of the matches, this game was the stuff legends are made of.
I feel that Germany will do wel as always, and secretly I'm rooting for Belgium. They have some great players with international experience, and they are hungry for good results.

And, with some luck, our hockey teams will be world champions today (ladies) and tomorrow (men). Good times!

a rule change that's needed....all penalty shot calls subject to review and possible overturning. At least 2, so far, should not have been called.

An elementary part of football are wrong decisions by referees, smaller ones happen in almost every game, but it is really sad that so much severe wrong decisions influence or even decide the result of a game.

Congrats Michiel, I was fan of the Dutch team of 2010 and I was fan of the Dutch team 2014 even before this sensational game yesterday!

Yes, part of the charm used to be that the ref didn't see offside or something like that, but the mistakes already made during this worldcup are piling up. Why not use a videoreferee like fieldhockey? BTW, did I already mention the Dutch women just became worldchampion in fieldhockey? :)

Thanks Chris, we'll see how Germany will do against Portugal on monday.

Germany and Portugal are both, what we call here, a group of death. USA is very strong, so is Germany and Portugal. It will certainly cause a few bad headaches to one of those team.

For different reasons, I like Germany, Portugal, Italy, Argentina, and Uruguay, and I would like to see all of them going to the second rounds.

A few country that could spoil the so called favourites, even some rated quite high, the Dutch for one, Switzerland, Japan, and Belgium. Every one of them deserving to go all the way.

USA vs. Germany will be a very interesting match. Coach Jürgen "Klinsi" Klinsmann vs. coach Joachim "Jogi" Löw. In 2006 Klinsmann was our Coach and Löw was Klinsmann's assistent.

So far, Uruguay have dug themselves a big hole. I guess anything can happen at the World, although it's only the first game in the first round, but still.
CRC 2-1 URU

Italy 2 - 1 England

What's got into England?

This nation invented this game. This nation is the most traditional football nation. They aren't really successful for so many years now. This is such a disappointment for millions of fans of English football all over the world.

Cheer up, no one is going to do as badly as Australia.
I am optimistic, but above all, realistic.

I'm a fan of the Dutch, and even before the first game was hoping they'd do well.

Just enjoy Arjen Robben - fantastic. His Bayern München teammate Philip Lahm says that Robben is in an incredible condition although the last Bundesliga season was very strenuous. Robben is one of my most favourite players currently. A lot of successful players become arrogant a**holes but he remaind a very nice and friendly and modest guy.

Sadly it's the same old story Chris.. English players just aren't technically, physically, and mentally in the same league as other countries. It's been like this for many years now! The disappointment usually results in a new expensive manager (like the past Italian) until that ends in tears..Then it's back to an old talentless rubbish English manager (on the cheap no doubt). The simple fact is England are crap at any world or euro football event because the actual players lack REAL talent.
