Brennan's Iron Law

The Healer
There is something called Hoffman's Iron Law in speaker building circles which basically states that you can have 2 of the following three things:

  • Bass Extension
  • Efficiency
  • Small Enclosure

I have adapted these principals into Brennan's Iron Law based on his posts and I believe that it goes like this. Good speakers need to have 2 of the following three things to sound good:

  • Altec Drivers
  • Huge Enclosures
  • Not be called LaScalas

Just something amuse myself while I prepare to burn some vintage bookshelf speaker cabinets...

Zilch's Iron Law is a little more restrictive. A good speaker needs all three of the following:

  • JBL Woofers
  • JBL Horns
  • BMS or JBL compression drivers
 
Since I'm entertaining myself...

whitese's iron law:

  • Must use EV 12TRXB
  • Must belong to someone else currently
  • Must be easily to sell/ship
 
Trianglezerius' Iron Law:
  • Must be mfg in France or China
  • Good Stereophile Review
  • Not Old

This can be overridden by Kuma Booty Shaking Approval
 
Squidward's Iron Law:

  • High quality POTs used in the tweeter attenuator
  • Must be easily turned upside down during audio meets
  • Must be purchased from someone who should be in straight jacket.
 
Jack decided to sell his iron law and replace it with whitese's silver law:

Good speakers must:
  • Huge
  • Ugly
  • Fit on yellow saw horses
 
dogscanskate's iron law:

  • speakers don't matter with a good source
  • accept very skinny speaker wire
  • make MFSL recordings sound less like crap
 
Grumpy's Iron Law:

  • If I like it, I like it.
  • If you don't, f*** off.
  • I'd rather listen to music than deal with newman's ****.
