After the Beatles, Stones, and Who, who's number four?

My choice is Yardbirds or Zombies. What's yours?

The music was great, the musicians are legendary, and the influence is still trickling down.

I think Led Zeppelin was even The New Yardbirds for a few minutes early on.

The top 4 in my book Beatles,Stones,the Who and the Kinks.They all started out with pop hits and evolved in there own way.The Kinks were and still are very underated. I love em!!

Yes. Post-Yardbirds. Of course, Cream is one reason folks might rank Yardbirds 4th.

Still, I find the Kinks did working/drinking class songs like no other group. They were also great at poking fun of the upper classes w/ Victoria and Well Respected Man.

The Kinks would be my favorite, but in England the Shadows and the Searchers were the best two non Beatles groups that presaged the invasion.

These aren't necessarily in the order I like them (for example I would place the Kinks just ahead of The Who and Donovan would take a slide down the list), but they are they way I think they score in terms of popularity, influence etc.

The Kinks are definitely number 4 imo.

I saw the Kinks at the first "Us Festival". They were already long in the tooth, but were just so professional compared to the other bands. The crowd really got into it. That 3 day gig was great! :thmbsp:

That being said, I just picked up a Small Faces comp (See for Miles CD label "As and Bs").

"Itchycoo Park" reminds me of summers in Oxnard, CA as a kid. More so than Bobby Sherman. He's boss, though.
