broken marantz 2220 w/ wood case $80--worth it?

So... would this be worth it even though the unit is broken, esp. since it has the wood case?

Case is also broken. If you are looking for a project and can do most of the fixes yourself offer 50$. Parts are not cheap. If you are looking for return on investment look elsewhere.

The metal grate is missing from the top of the case!
Still worth $80, you can replace the grate with metal grating from Home Dopey and cut it with snips, and slide it into the slot....carefully!

Maybe worth $80 to somebody who can fix it, or who wants to part it out, assuming good cosmetic condition. Does it have the missing knob? I'm always a bit wary of "parts" units, as sometimes major internal stuff is missing or severely damaged.

It depends what you want to do with it. If the rest of it is in decent shape, that will turn into a lot more than $80 in parts, not even counting the case. If you want to restore it, $80 is fine, but if you can't find the knob/control cheap, expect to pay $12-20 on the knob and $15-30 on the control.

If it were local to me, I'd hit it, but I'd offer $60 or $70.

The listing says it went up 22 days ago. At this point I would offer $50 and point out how much of a pain replacing the control will be, and the possibility of other issues.

$50 is where I'm at.Only because it has wood case.I passed on a 2230 wit a non functioning power button for $50 untested but said it did work.At forty five years old these units are pretty old and there may be a lot of problems lurking. That's just me as I can't repair and finding competent repairmen is getting difficult.
