BSR speakers?

For the most part junk.
Fun junk but junk.
I bought the same pair at a SA for fun.
In no way would I pay two hundred dollars for these.
 
I've seen two or three pairs of those speakers in TS's over the last couple of years. They seem to be well made and look a little high end but I've never listened to them. They would be worth checking out if they were $20 - $40, which is what they are probably worth.
 
They were sold out of the "DAK" catalog in the mid to late 80's.

I have never heard a pair, but I think Drew was full of crap.

I remember the DAK catalog, as you said, full of crap! It looks like there are drivers on the top of the cabinet? Great for imaging I'm sure.:no:

He's Baaaaaaaaaak !!! And STILL full of crap --with the exact same shyster sales pitch. www.dak.com to see all the latest worthless garbage for the digital age. Don't say I didn't warn you.
 
dbx had a similar model. Soundfields, I think they called them. I picked up a pair at a yardsale for $20 last year and eventually just parted them out. Mine had a nice ribbon tweeter on it though which I repurposed.

My brother purchased a BSR three piece speaker system from DAK, back in the late 80's. His wife wanted his big JBL's gone, so he got the BSR system. He mated these with a respectable Harmon Kardon receiver. In my opinion, it's one of the worse sounding speaker systems that I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of different speakers. Muddy highs, horrible mids, and muddy lows. He did replace those BSR's in his HT system, with a much better Onkyo system; but he still uses the BSR's in his den. Sometimes I go over to his house and listen to them, and shake my head in horror.
 
I remember those from the DAK catalog also. Not worth $200. More like $20. Never understood why their are drivers for the tweeter and midrange were on the top of the speaker. I bought a BSR passive subwoofer from DAK. It was okay, I thought the crossover used in the system was set a little too high.

I have one of those subwoofers still new in the box that I bought from DAK. I took it out once, but it was incompatable with my system at the time. I loved the DAK catalog and am still looking for one just for fun. Some of the stuff I bought was crap, but some was actually pretty good.
 
My father bought those BSR's new when i was 14 or 15. He used them for a year and gave them to me (that means he didnt like em). I remember they put out alot of bass and leaked and rattled like crazy, cool seeing this thread though, brought back a memory.
