Build a DIY Squeezebox Touch

AQI display just showed up this morning on my Google device, which sits on my desk opposite the DAC and homebrew displays. Guess I can remove AQI from the display now, lol. Looks like they’re even color coding it.

Just to be sure, you know there are different installers for pCP vs RPiOS...

Here's the one for pCP:
https://github.com/piCorePlayer/hyperpixel4

It turns out my issue with RPiOS was Bullseye vs. Buster. Per Pimoroni support:

Now that I know the hardware works, I'll go back and get piCorePlayer working.

Ah, that makes sense. Haven't tried the new Bullseye distro yet, will wait for the dust to settle first.

If I've got an Rpi4 running as the server, could I set up multiple pi Zeros on different systems that are all playing the same music in different rooms, in sync?

Finally got piCorePlayer setup with Hyperpixel display on a RPi 3B. The issue was having an HDMI display plugged in while doing the Jivelite setup. When setting up RPiOS (Buster), the display would be on the HDMI monitor, and switch to the Hyperpixel once its software was installed. But with piCorePlayer/Jivelite, it never would display on the Hyperpixel if an HDMI monitor was plugged in. Also, I could never get the piCorePlayer image to boot on the RPi Zero 2 -- I would just get the "color wall". The same SD card would boot fine on the RPi 3B. Strange.

An angled power cable and angled USB-C adapter, an Apple USB-C dongle, and we have a complete system, able to run piCorePlayer or any of my Python apps with pretty good performance. I'll epoxy the headphone adapter in place. With the back on, it's a polished desktop or nightstand product.

I've got a quick question about this complete system setup. Is the usb-c adapter to apple usb-c dongle your audio output? No DAC? What is needed to make this happen? I'm thinking of setting this up pi Zero system as a satellite without a DAC (if possible) in my kitchen to synch with my main system in the other room that will be running LMS on Rpi4.

The Apple dongle contains a DAC and headphone amp. It's great for the price, within its limits. An external DAC can also be used with the right cable.

@gcgst , the pCP guys hang out over here. Best place to get help.

Got a reply from one of the pCP folks: "When we developed pCP 5.0 through to 8.0 there was no such thing as a RPi02W so it doesn't work. This happens for almost all new hardware. We don't get advanced warning from RPT so the best we can do is start development as soon we get our hands on an example. The next release of pCP will support the RPi02W. We are still beta testing.". So, I guess @chicks finagled his setup to get it to work with the current piCorePlayer. I ended up sticking with an RPi 3B and printing the octo case here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4284094. I'll save the RPi Zero 2W for a Volumio/7" Pi Touch setup and see how that goes.

@gcgst I’m not running pCP on a Zero 2W (yet). Just my own software and Squeezelite under the Buster release of RPiOS Lite. Having many years experience with systems at MegaCorp, I never jump to new firmware/software until it’s been well sorted by the larger community.

Ok, I misunderstood your earlier post "Swapped the Pi Zero 2W into the place of the Pi Zero WH for the Bellini / Squeezelite box" to mean for this project. I guess you must have several projects going on in this "Build a DIY Squeezebox Touch" thread.
