Bottom left of the stack is an original Phase Linear 700. Silver one about halfway up on the right looks like a Crown of some flavor.
 
I see some multicell Altec horns... A few other good things too..., I'd say $5500 would be worth the investment for all of it so long as it's all working.
 
You guys are great - he's going to give me a better run down tomorrow - there's a bunch of the horns and it looks like the bass bins have silver dust caps which may mean JBL drivers? I've heard of Bgw amps but I don't know the value of those..
 
These undoubtably have been rode hard and put away wet. You need to remember that facilities that commonly use these pro setups, like Disneyworld, replace their amps on a yearly basis, and diaphragms on their mid drivers every two years, and their speakers en masse every four or five years.

They then get bought up at auctions by sound companies and bars. After five or ten years on the second level used market, they then get purchased by individuals.

Now this individual is selling his gear, probably to the third or fourth generation. They may still be good, but they are going to be very tired, having lived in Florida.
 
Looks like a piece of Crown gear in the stack on the right.

Depending on what model Altec multicell horns those are, they can be big bucks just for the horns without drivers.

That original Phase Linear is early 1970s. I think the 700B came out around 1976. That Crown I believe is about the same vintage. There is some newer stuff in the stack as well but no doubt about some of these guys being long in the tooth. The newest stuff in there I'd spitball as not being much newer than around 20 years old.
 
There's a Dynaco 400 in there as well. That's a LOT of nice gear in there. A lot depends on what drivers are in those speakers, but Altec compression drivers/horns and JBL pro woofers are worth real money, plus it' sounds like he'd be willing to deal if someone wanted the whole pile. If it's not broken and beat to crap - and there is no indication that it is - pro gear doesn't "wear out" any faster than consumer stuff. The opposite is true; it's built to be run hard. In this situation the stuff was probably barely pushed.
 
It doesn't so much wear out as it gets used up. Often its cosmetically challenged, controls are broken or worn, some have had multiple and sometimes questionable repairs, etc. Not to say it's worthless, but its just something to be aware of. It may not all be 100% ready to run as it sits. At a minimum, it would warrant evaluation and probably a cleaning of each piece, both controls and internally. Blow the dust bunnies out of the heat sinks, remove the layer of insulating lint from the circuit boards, etc.
 
Some nice stuff there, that phase linear is beautiful. But I highly doubt anyone will drop that much change on so much old stuff in one go, especially considering the space needed for all those big speakers! Likely worth that if all sold separately.
 
Man, I would love to hear that system, but I wonder how he treated the room (if at all). He's got a sloped ceiling and concrete floors. The sound would bounce around some fierce and unpredictable.

He didn't care.. it's all about the party.. Some times quality isn't as important as quantity..... notice the beer bottles and the tambourine....

I went by ere just now. Dont waste time . Nothing orginal. Guy thinks he has gold. Horrible condition and half stuff not tested. Selenium tweeter on tose altec style. Cabs. Peavy woofer and some jbl d130. He had a few older altec spare woofers that barely had value. Doesnt want o part out.

He did have some ig boy jbl tweeter and mids for pa..

Everything probaly cost $2500
